Marquette lacrosse player arrested for locker room sex

A member of Marquette's men's lacrosse team was arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest on March 3 after he reportedly engaged in sexual activity in the volleyball locker room, according to Marquette Wire's John Steppe. The player has not been identified.
The athlete claimed he was at the Al McGuire Center on campus in Milwaukee, Wisc. to do laundry at 3:10 a.m. CT. However, it appeared that he did not have any laundry with him, according to officer Carolina Seidl's incident report
The sexual activity was consensual, the female student told MUPD, though her claim did not absolve the lacrosse player from any of the aformentioned allegations.
Marquette head coach Joe Amplo suspended 19 players from the team after they lost to Cleveland State on March 9. At the moment, there is no reported link between the March 3rd arrest and subsequent mass suspension.
Marquette is 6–6 in 2019 with three losses in its last four matches. The Golden Eagles will face Duke on April 20 in Bethpage, N.Y.

Future in-state recruits won't give a crap about the Hausers. They'll give a crap about whether we're winning, and whether they like the style of ball we play.

Hard stop.

Especially since they were not going to play with Sam anyway (his eligibility would be done before they arrived).

And since Johnson, Sibley, and Foster play the same position as Joey, they all think they were going to beat him out to start in his place.

With a volleyball player? Why wasn't she arrested as well if it's consensual?

They are not coming to play for Wojo

This. Funny how some people think basketball parents don't talk to each other. Of course the Coaches' reputation factors into any decision. We may soon find out the scuttlebutt as the recruiting season continues and if there is any impact on Wojo.

We can debate what happened with the Hausers and Wojo all spring and summer. However, opposing coaches don't give a damn what the truth is. They will use the transfer to negatively recruit on Wojo and MU all day.

RJax55.There are close to 700 players in the transfer portal. It will not impact Wojo recruiting that the Hausers left.Did it hurt UW when Sam Okey left or when Uthoff left.Bo even tried to block Uthoff from going to Iowa.

How's Wojo selling his program to 2020 recruits and beyond?

He is five years in now, no tourney success. Two of his top guys just bailed on him, one of which, was a 3-year starter and an all-conference player. During his tenure, his offense has generally has featured one guy heavily, with others pushed to supporting roles (whether justified or not). To add to that, I don't think Marquette is the easiest program to recruit to, even when times are good. Taken in that context, yes, the Hausers transfer could absolutely hurt him on the recruiting trail.

And, the Bo comparison is silly. Like him or not, Bo is a HOF coach, who had an extremely successful program. Any potential damage the Uthoff situation caused, he could withstand. Wojo doesn't have that luxury.

And speaking of Wisconsin kids ...

Herro is officially gowne, having said yesterday that he is staying in the draft because he's "ready to jump into that next stage."

So, with him and Grimes, we missed out on two 1-and-done guards, either of whom could have helped this past season. Especially Herro, who actually lived up to the expectations placed on him as a college basketball player.

I'd love to know if it's really true that the Hausers nixed Marquette even pursuing Herro. It might be BS -- all I know is what I read here -- but if it's true it was quite a parting gift from the Hausers.

Herro would have been yet another offensive-minded guard who would have kept down the Hausers' shot total.

Calipari runs a different offense than Wojo does. While Herro probably would have played well for MU, there's no guarantee he would have had the success like he did at UK.

Totally agree.

But he probably would have taken a pretty good number of shots. Shots the Hausers wouldn't have gotten. Of course, they'd have been shots Markus wouldn't have gotten, either.

For those of you panicking that MU has no scholarship players from Wisconsin on the 2019-20 roster, is it safe to assume you haven't seen the 2018-19 Virginia Cavaliers roster? One state is conspicuously absent among the scholarship players, and I think they had a pretty good season, right?

I'm not panicking by any means. I just thought it was interesting that next year could be the first year since WWI without a scholarship WI player on the roster.
