Ok, Providence was a bummer. Really thought we should have and could have won it.

That said, I don't think we're a tournament team this year. Too many holes. The continued back door lay-ups by Providence today were disheartening. Almost through the season and we were giving up points on plays that should have been corrected by the time we lost to Michigan. That's perhaps on coaching but it also is on talent at the center position and court-smarts. We're either still learning or ridiculously weak inside.

We're suffering from an expectation that Henry would be with us for two years. If we had Henry, today would not have been close!

We may sneak in because of a weak field, but a one-and-done is not the Marquette way. And that's what we will be.

All this said, I see things and see incoming freshmen that will make a difference. We had a tough schedule this year and have done OK with it. The talent coming in hopefully will give us some interior toughness and I like the depth we have returning.

In all, I'm kinda moving past this year. I have some hope for next year and see improvement in our nucleus for the next few years.

And Joey's coming to Milwaukee! I've bet on it  ;D

I assume you won't be watching the next two games and the BET since you're moving past it, right?

This kind of logic always bewilders me.

Oh, I'll watch. But I'm setting my expectations based on what I have seen during the past few weeks.

I hope I am pleasantly surprised. By the way, if we make the NIT, I really don't care. It's an extra game on the schedule.

I think keeping expectations low is different than "moving past this year". Maybe it's all semantics but I don't see any reason to give up, as frustrating as this season has been at times.

GoldenDieners32

Why give up? We have 2 games left and the BET if we get at least 1 of the 2 games we would be 9-9 in the BE. We would probably have to win at least 1 in the BET though

JamilJaeJamailJrJuan

This team definitely has the ability to win a game in the tourney. I sure as hell hope we get a chance. I'll take a play in game all day this year. At this point that's what we're gonna get if you won't win 2 in a row, which I honestly don't expect.

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

Let's move past the year when the season is officially over.  It's always nice to look forward to what's to come.  But this year is not over.

Who in their right mind expected Henry to stay two years? He was always projected as a first round pick. Then be became one.

Let's be clear - this team's inability to finish games has nothing to do with Henry. It does, however, have a lot to do with a relatively green coach and a pair of horribly inconsistent seniors.

I agree that there was always the looming likelihood that Henry would be a first rounder. But when I look at this team and see what we're lacking, Henry solves much of it. I've said this before but if Henry had stayed, we would be a Top 10 team right now.

That said, he didn't. And we have a green coach and our seniors, let's say, never became what we and they hoped they would become.

Other PFs that we tried to recruit.
