Do we Think Matt will develop a face- up game in his next Two years?
i fully expect him to break the press, so a face up game will be no problemo.

Matt has made an incredible jump from last year to year, and it's showing as he gets more minutes.  I could see his career along the trajectory of a Jarrod Lovette kind of guy.  Basically lost as a frosh, good contributor as a sophomore and junior, and was having a really nice senior season until medical issues ended his career.

If he keeps up that kind of path (without the medical issues), he will be a huge asset.

Sorry, Matt can't jump!

with matt's work ethic, froling could push matt to be "all that he can be" and more-looking foward to seeing the final products.  i would have to do some scavenging, but i recall some of my earlier posts/observations about matt near the end of his freshman year noting the improvement and his poise.  he is building upon that and then some.  he is a determined young man with a little chip on his shoulder.  i am sure, being an in state kid, he heard the whispers.  well he's starting to shout back with his play

Matt was a decent shooter at Neenah, so it's not impossible to think that's in his skill set.

Thanks, Boy wouldn't that be another weapon to have.

I have been supporting Matt all along in the face of doubters.    However, it WAS just two games.    While we would all like it to be the new normal, accept that there are going to be bad games.    And don't throw him under the bus when it happens.   He was a project big.   He has worked very hard.    For two games, it paid off.    It will not be a linear progression.    My take away from the last two games is that he  can and will be a leader going forward, an example of how hard young guys have to work and that there is a payoff.    I still don't expect him to be a star.    But he is,  and certainly will be going forward, an adequate Big East big man.

The real question is who would win a game between a team full of mini-Heldt's and Providence.

One mini Heldt vs. 30 5 years olds MIGHT be an even fight

Would Providence rather play against one horse-sized Heldt, or 100 duck-sized Heldts?
Have some patience, FFS.

I like Heldt and have since his high school days.  Besides being a great kid, he is a winner.  He can score, play strong defense, rebound, block shots and not make mistakes.  We can and will win with Matt.

An interesting thought..... Wojo was the big man coach at Duke and for the Olympic squads.    Might Heldt be the first real sign of what Wojo can do with a player who is willing to put in the work?   Could Matt's improvement be a better recruiting tool than having Henry being a one and done?

How many Mbakwes go into one Heldt?

Heldt and Froling can be on the floor at the same time. And it will be a beautiful thing.

Interesting you should say that. I was wondering who would play the 4 position next season with Ike, Theo and Harry. Seems like Matt would play the 5 possibly subbing with Harry.
