Some dreadful numbers in there.   I am far more willing to forgive the 17 year old his five turnovers than I am the senior.

Nearly even on the boards on the road against Seton Hall.   Probably were except for the last sequence.   Team is doing a decent job on the boards.

55.4% to 49.2%, simple as that. They shot a better eFG% than us. #donedeal

Other than the lay-up late in the game, Katin barely got any looks in the second half.  Thought it would have been nice to get him the ball for a few more threes considering he was hitting in SH faces the whole first half.  Find a way to get it to the hot hand.

The stat line that stands out the most to me is 0-5, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 TO in 29 minutes of play. I understand wojo giving Cheatham that kind of time against cupcakes to see if he can work his way through the slump, but from here on out those stats should him on the bench.

Wojo might have if Duane was healthy but there are limited options without Duane.  We need him healthy to improve our bench options.

Playing 8, with Luke and Matt splitting the minutes at the 5, Markus and Rowsey essentially splitting minutes at the 1, and 120 minutes to spread between 4 players, 29 minutes seems just about right.    It isn't like you can give Sam more minutes or JjJ more minutes today.  KR is getting over a leg injury.    Bottom line, HC has to find his confidence.   But today, Wojo did not have much choice.   The only real option would have been to play Markus and Rowsey together, and that would have been a defensive disaster.

Still, Haanif had twice as many defensive rebounds as Fischer and Heldt combined,

Hard to get more dreadful than your starting center finishing with zero defensive rebounds.

Our DR% was just fine today

Agreed team rebounding been OK this year and was OK yesterday JB. Thought it would be an every-game issue screaming at the TV to get a rebound. But hard to argue your starting center and only guy in your top 7 (top 8 if Wilson's not hurt) not getting one defensive rebound in 29 minutes of playing time is not a well below average effort in that one facet of the game for that one player.

TAMU, Knower of Ball

Ran the numbers. Marquette lost 3 of 4 factors yesterday. As Jay Bee noted, we lost the most important one, eFG%, 55.4% to 49.2%. We lost FTR convincingly (9.7% vs. 19.6%). We lost OR% by the slimmest of margins, 0.3%. Would have won convincingly if not for those last two rebounds off of missed FTs. We won TO% in a sloppy battle, 22.9% vs. 24.6%.

As Jay Bee has been known to say, eFG% reigns supreme. There has not been an MU game all season where the team with the higher eFG% did not win the game.

But isn't that the point of team rebounding? Sometimes the big boxes out specifically so someone else can get the board. I remember that at least a couple times yesterday.

I get that everyone wants the commanding double-double machine down low, but if we end up getting to 75% of the defensive boards, I don't care who gets them.

Exactly.  Not saying Luke is a great defensive rebounder but several times on a SH miss he adequately boxed out one of the bigs and one of our other players got the board.  That doesn't show up on the stat sheet but it still is important.

They were chasing him off the line.  Good adjustment by Willard.

And he also missed a wide open one in the second half - I think hot and cold is pretty much what Katin is.

jdbied

0 def rebounds for Luke.  Understandable disappointment.  But how come no one is giving him credit for 7 Off. Boards?   Were they just the easy type?   Maybe a couple were, but that's nothing to sneeze at, particularly for those who insist he is so "soft".

Eye

7 offensive rebounds is impressive.
