Perusing the KenPom numbers as I'm wont to do, I came across an interesting thought.

The offensive tempo this year in the form of average length of possession is 14.2(21st in country), last year it was 16.2 (65th). So we are playing 2 seconds faster this season than last.

Ordinarily I might account for that as part of an increased TO rate, however this year it is 16.8(82nd) and last year it was 20(292) so clearly we're turning the ball over less which is counter intuitive to an increased pace.

So is Wojo intentionally speeding up the game in an effort to increase the number of available possessions potentially at the cost of efficiency?

Side note, the defensive tempo is faster this season compared to last year, but we haven't played the living embodiment of wasted time, Wisconsin basketball, yet.

Effect of Reinhardt chucking up a shot whenever he gets the ball.

Defense is likely part of the explanation. MU is forcing 15.8 turnovers a game, up from 13.9 a season ago. That should lead to more fast-break opportunities and shorter possessions (breakaway dunks and layups).
