Hall advances
« on: March 12, 2016, 06:24:54 AM »
Seton Hall in the finals.  Young team. Essentially one year older than us.  Is this what we will be in a year?

I saw some of the first half. They had the lead and we're taking it too X.

Next year we will be pretty darned good.  Especially if Luke put some weight on and learns to avoids getting his first foul in war ups.  Reminds me of the days when you could get a technical for dunking in warmups.

Something tells me that whatever post season we are in, the organizers will want an HE v. Simmons final.

Edit:  Last year, we kicked Hall's a$$ in the BET.  They did not forget that, and applied that lesson to this year.....look where they are now.  If we go to a tournament, apply some lessons, and finish strong, we go into next year with a more mature, confident team that just may wipe the floor with X when we seem the again.

Wouldn't that be sweet?

Seton Hall has size.   MU may not.
Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

It is better to be fearless and cheerful than cheerless and fearful.

Seton Hall has size.   MU may not.

Carrington   6 3, 190    So.
Whitehead   6 4, 210    So
Delgado       6 9, 230    So
Sanago        6 8, 210    So
Rodriguez    6 6, 225    So

Anthony       6 9, 235    So
Gordon        6 3, 205    Sr

SH starts 5 sophomores and their main rotation of seven players has six.  Their guards are tall and all players are big and strong.  Don't know if Whitehead will declare for draft, but if the roster stays intact for next year, they will be tough to handle.  MU not even close to their size next year (so far), especially considering JJJ, Wilson, Cohen being very slim.

MU is not even close to Hall, Villy and X.  MU does not have one junkyard dog.  Those teams are physically tougher, I do not see Luke ever like that.  Plus those kids
can shot the ball, we are a minor league team, those are major league teams.  Now if Henry stayed, and he still could find another forward and Howard then maybe
MU would be closer.  I see MU again 7-10 in the league.  Rowsey and Hauser might be able to score, which will help, but both kids are not imposing.

Yeah, I don't think MU's roster is going to match up well with the top half of the BE again next year. We are not as physically tough as most of the teams in the Big East and don't see that changing much next year either.

Traci is a "junk yard dog" if I've ever seen one. He's just a freshmen point guard on a team with no shooting.

Wojo needs to address how physical the BE is in his recruiting.  The ACC is a finesse conference compared to BE and he was used to recruiting ACC type guys.

We are good shooting team. Not a great shooting team. Give our guards a year of experience and add Howard and Rowsey and we will be a phenomenal shooting team.

The physcality and rebounding though, that is a concern.

Looking at this roster and calling them all sophomores, doesn't really paint an accurate picture.

Whitehead, Angel Delgado, Desi Rodriguez are all 21 year old Sophomores.
Same age as Luke.

Derrick Gordon is 25 years old. Same age as Wojo, I think.

Let's not act like this is a young Seton Hall team, just because they are playing mostly Sophomores. They are a group of men.

As far as our missing "junk yard dog" on this roster -- I'd look no further than Sacar.

On September 19th - Sacar Anim will turn 19. 19!! Traci Carter will turn 20 this June. Both Freshmen. Big difference in being strong enough to play high-level college ball immediately. Sacar needs to add strength/weight - but the kid is so young. Give him a full offseason with the team, before you say the players Wojo recruits aren't tough enough.

With that being said - I really like Seton Hall. It's an embarrassment that they aren't ranked right now - and I don't understand how they are listed as a 7-seed by Lunardi. They should be a 4-5 seed this year. If Whitehead can stay hot from deep, they are as good as Xavier/Nova.

I peg to differ about great shooting team.  Carter is below average, Duane Wilson is below average, Sandy Cohen is way below average, JJJ is average,  Luke has no
more than 10 foot range back to the basket,  Rowsey will have a hard time getting his shot at times since he is small, Hauser has no muscle yet, not sure how quick he
will be either against the competition,  Wally average,  Cheatham above average driver and above average 3 point shooter but has zero mid-range game, so unless
Steve Novak walks thru the door, this team next year will be below average shooting.  Now does not mean they can not work on it the next 6 months.  Howard I have
seen a few times looks really good but is he coming?   No matter what next year, if Wojo does not find at least 1 Power Forward to guard the basket, they will have to
shot lights out because they will have no rebounding at all.

Hoopster, your definitions of what makes a good shooter is beyond unrealistic.

Traci Carter is below average, you're correct on that one.

Duane is shooting 35% with 54 makes. That is a good three point shooter. Not a great one but a good one.

Sandy faded in conference play but is still a 35% three point shooter

JJJ is shooting 39% on the season and 45% over the last 15 games. He is a great shooter.

Luke is a center.

Rowsey has already hit over 200 three pointers with 39% accuracy. He will shoot it just fine.

Wally Average? He's the only one you overestimated

Cheatham is shooting 39% from three. That's better than above average.

We are already average. Next year we will be very good. Add Howard and we will be great.
