Have some patience, FFS.

Didn't hear much to parse there.  Seemed pretty straight forward.  Loved how Wojo went after him, wants to leave an impact on MU, loves his family, loves basketball, works hard, can do a lot on the court.

That was on Inside the Big East. New episodes start on Sunday's.

Didn't say that there was anything legitimate to parse. But as I heard Henry talk about how important family is to him and how much he loves playing with his brother,  I pictured certain Scoopers thinking,  "He just said that he is coming back next year!"

Fair point.

Meanwhile, anyone from Badger-land is thinking, "See, I told you Henry only went their because Wojo convinced Wally to go to MU. Squirmy"

Who cares if he did? That just means Bo was stupid in not doing that.

I've heard some of that from Badger fans this year. I think they'd happily open two scholarships for Wally and Henry. My guess is Wally would probably be getting more minutes in Madison than he is here.

Of regrettable MU recruits based solely on their own playing merit...Wally doesn't crack my top 25.  I love the guy.  Good things always happen when he's on the floor.

The joke of it is we are being roasted (by some) for taking a transfer from the BIG TEN.  We didn't take Elwood, from Grand Valley State, we took Wally from Minnesota.  When other fans complain, they are really insulting the Big Ten.

Here's why the Badgers wouldn't take Wally to get Hank...Wally went to Minnesota, a B1G school.  Unlike Bo's handling of Jarrod Uthoff, Walter wasn't blocked from every school on the planet, only to have his coach back down due to the negative press he was getting and remove all restrictions.  My best guess is Minnesota played it like any relatively sane coach would, by blocking him from transferring from any conference schools, and maybe an in state rival.  So, Walter was never going to Wisconsin, whether Bo was "willing" to "trade 2 scholarships for 1 year of Hank," as the Badger faithful will have you believe.

No, I think the problem was that Bo never recruited Wally out of high school.

Regardless of whether Walter had 0 interest in Wisconsin or was dying to go to Wisconsin, the best case scenario for him to play basketball at Wisconsin would be for him to pay his own way there and lose a year of eligibility.  When you have other options, that's not a very good option.

I wouldn't have thought it squirmy to recruit Elwood simply to get Henry.  Scholarships are resources to be allocated to improve your team.  If Wojo would have thought it best to offer the 2 for 1 to Elwood instead of Wally, while that may not have been the best decision basketball-wise, it certainly isn't unethical or against NCAA rules.

That's what I have never understood about the pontificating from UW fans on this issue.  I mean, if Wally walked-on and was given a full-ride academic scholarship, THAT is squirmy.  If Wojo hired Henry's dad as an assistant, THAT is squirmy.  But athletic scholarships are a finite resource, and there is no guidelines from the NCAA to determine who is "worthy" of an athletic scholarship offer.

When I was in high school, UW recruited and accepted Wes Matthews dad from my hometown of Bridgeport, CT.  They also gave a scholarship that same year to Darnell Reid, who was about the fourth best player at Harding, Wes' high school.  I don't think they thought Darnell was going to do much for them on the basketball court, nor did he.  It was the cost of getting Wes to come to UW.  Didn't think there was anything wrong with it then, and I don't think there is anything wrong with it now, particulary since Wally is a useful player for us.
