Has anyone ever found Golden Avalanche gear anywhere? I would love to pick up a sweatshirt, however after a search of MUScoop and the world wide web my efforts (although limited) have come up short.

Thanks gents, and GO MU.

If Marquette had a hair on its ass the admin would ditch the Golden Eagle bullsh!t and bring back either Golden Avalanche or Hilltoppers.

Death on call

Nike made a Golden Avalanche shirt several years ago if you can find it.

It all depends on timing.  I don't believe it was Nike, but I have a light greyish-blue Marquette Golden Avalanche t-shirt that has kind of the old timey faded wash to it and an old school football player with a leather helmet.  Its probably my fav Marquette shirt I ever got at the Spirit Shop

It was Nike.

And it was a navy shirt with gold print and a football player on the front.

But it didn't feature anything nostalgically connected to the actual Golden Avalanche team: just "marquette" "golden avalanche" and a cartoon football player.

Of course I agree with you, which is why I voted for Golden Avalanche in the 2005 vote.  Unfortunately, they will forever cite the results of that vote as justification for not changing from Golden Eagles.

I just googled the vote, and came across this article from ESPN.  It boggles the mind that Wild could say, "they want tradition" after that vote when "tradition" was not even an option.  I also found it absurd that they reported that students and alumni opposed "Gold" because "they weren't consulted."  No, we opposed "Gold" because it ranks very high on the list of stupidest mascots ever.  Had the Board opted to change the name back to Warriors without consulting anyone, I suspect that it would have been accepted.  The lack of consultation was not the issue.  Idiots.

"Marquette Tradition" would have been a terrible nickname.

Agreed.  Still better than "Gold", but terrible.

Huh, never noticed it was Nike.

Not sure what "nostalgia" they could have included.  The football player actually looks fairly close to some of the posters for the team Ive seen from back then.

MU82

Given the sports fan's love of everything nostalgic, one would think MU would want to make a few $$$ capitalizing on throwback gear.

I guess the powers that be figure the constant references to Al are nostalgic enough.
