Anyone want to get more specific about 15-16.

To make this a little more interesting, and it being so early, the playing field is now level for everyone.

1)  What 5 will make the most contributions all thru the 15-16 season?  (Only list 5 makes it much more difficult)

2)  Any disappointments?

My 5

1) Henry
2) Luke
3) Duane
4) Sacar
5) Traci

No Disappointments.

Duane
Henry
Luke
JJJ

Those 4 forsure. Then I'd go Traci, Sandy, Haanif in that order of likelihood for 5 spot

I currently see our rotation as:

1: Carter
2: Duane
3: JjJ
4: Henry
5: Luke

Bench
1: Wally
2: Cheatham
3: Cohen
4: Heldt
5: Anim

The biggest ? is Carter. If you go by high school rankings, he should be the second to last player on our bench. Instead he is our starting PG. I've heard some positive things and I know we are all optimistic, but honestly that scares me immensely.

My big hope is that we do get contribution minutes from 9 guys on most nights.

Unless Luke and Henry stay out of foul trouble then Matt won't need to get much.

It is possible that Wojo changes his mind and starts Duane at point.

That knee injury really limited his ranking potential.

I know that, but that doesn't really make me feel any better. Handing over the reins to a freshman PG is scary enough. Giving over the reins to a freshman PG with a history of knee injuries? Terrifying.

FWIW, I think Carter will be solid and hope he will be a stud. But I think the PG position will again be our main weakness and will continue to hold us back for another season.

Absolutely all valid points.  I’m a little more optimistic (Maybe wishful thinking) about the freshmen and the returning players.

We will be Bigger and have more scorers, 3PT shooters, Drivers, and more proficient FT scoring.  I’m looking for better passing and an increase from 14-15 seasons assists 479 and 3 players (Derrick, Carlino, and Duane) accounted for 43% of the total.  I’m hopping for a substantial increase with us being bigger on the offence rim.

Wojo and staff (Less Johnson) with have a year under their belt.

Anyways, as someone said, “In matters of opinion, debate is pointless, take it for what it is and move on”

Let's do some work with that quote.  If we drop the second sentence of the compound sentence, we get:

"In matters of opinion, debate is pointless..."

Now let's add this:

...but there's no reason that should stop us."

You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Count me in the 'Duane Wilson will start at PG' camp.

Just to be clear these are the 5 Contributors  during the full season not necessarily starters.  Maybe Someone coming on strong after the season begins.

I know what you meant.

The 4 I posted will forsure be our top 4 guys. Then most likely Carter out of necessity.

Your first 3 seem the most obvious. Sacar and Traci are much more difficult to predict, given they are frosh. Of course, so is Henry, but much more heralded. I would put JJJ in there, and maybe Traci, but that is a lot to expect of a Freshman playing the point.
Attempting to choose Only the best 5 Contributors (Not concerned with Rotation) has kind of sharpen my focus of what we have and what we might be missing.  Looking and trying to project what each player might contribute.

I choose Sacar because I like his pedigree.  I don’t think he starts the season, but believe he plays major minutes.  I think he will become our designated Driver together with Duane and Traci.

He comes with a winner’s mentality (which I think is contagious).  He has won 4 straight titles with his HS team.  He’s won the Minnesota POY last year.  There’s something there I really like.

With Traci, I look for a pass first and score as needed PG.  I look for a lot more assists from Duane, Sacar and Traci drive to our big men this year.  Last year we had 479 assists, Derrick had 150   I’m hopping for a 30-40 season increase and a more balanced distribution.

It’s fun, as of right now there is NO RIGHT answer.
