The rumor was out there for a long time. Not exactly "new" News.

However, it is a perfect illustration of the burdens of large companies. They don't want to change what has been successful, even when it is clear that the success has ended. This should have been done in Windows 8. It's been obvious for years that IE was trending downward.

Use them all, for my job.  Chrome, Opera, FireFox, IE, Safari, etc. 

According to Browser Market Share and Net Applications,  all IE versions combined have a 51% to 58% market share.  Other sites list their market share as low as 17%.

The SEO programs i use give similar data, but up until 2-3 yrs ago it is crazy to think IE was number 1 across the board when I was doing any web development work catering to all the crappy versions of IE was ridiculous.  Now, don't have to cater to IE as much.

This will be interesting.  Unfortunately I have to use it fairly often for work.  There are a variety of web-based data programs that only work with IE.  This will likely force them to develop for across browsers, which I'm more than ok with.

Among the experts and developers, Chrome usage is up around 60%, while IE is closer 10 10%.

Same here.  I'm actually have to pull data from a customer today, but the system only works with IE.
