Creighton, I believe was 0-8 in conference so they are playing very well after that start. The opposite of DePaul & Seton hall

Yep. I'd much rather play DePaul/Seton Hall than Creighton at this point.

I'm in the camp that wants to see Creighton win as many as possible.  That leaves two options.  MU wins a game or two out of these last four, ending the regular season on a positive note, as it would be a sign that the young guys are continuing to develop.  If MU can't get the job done in any of these last four games, we claim the #10 spot...with Nova on the other side of the bracket.

Now, I'm not delusional enough to really believe MU will win the BE tourney - we would have to win four games, which is one more than we've won in conference so far.  However, when you look at each game on a standalone basis, there's still potential that MU can make it fun at the Garden.  The young guys have learned a bit about being leaders with Carlino out (see effort in Nova game), so it will be interesting to see how the team plays with its best shooter back.  We've already played each of the Big East teams, and we've been competitive at least once with each of the teams except Nova.

Based on today's standings, MU would get DePaul first.  Regardless of the standings, none of us would be surprised to see MU knock off DePaul.  Next up is likely Georgetown...a six-point loss on the road, and a loss in OT at home.  Advantage Georgetown, but we certainly can compete.  Based on current standings, next up is Butler or Xavier.  So far, our only game against Butler was an OT loss at home...and we'll see what happens tonight.  Xavier...well...let's forget about the game at home without Carlino...we only lost by four at Xavier after wasting away a great first half.  So...MU theoretically could face a reeling DePaul team, a team it took to OT, another team it took to OT...then whatever comes out of the other side of the bracket.

Like I said, there's no reason for confidence with three conference wins...but the six guys playing in the Nova game were impressive...and Carlino's presence will spread the defense and give us the opportunity to keep more offensive-minded players on the court.  Are we going to win the tourney?  Very doubtful, but I still think there could be some fun along the way.  So...I'll keep pulling for Marquette...and Creighton.

Those of us who took 10-14 wins in the preseason poll are not surprised.

Except that you got an assist (so to speak) when Deonte and John transferred, and now Matt and Juan have suffered injuries.  Any team is going to be worse than reasonable expectations when it plays much of the season with 8, then 7, then 6 scholarship players.

In any event, it's great to see the team still fighting.

and us.

In a sense I do not disagree. However, one has to remember that this season we have seen three distinct Warrior teams. The first had Bain, but not Fischer. This team, when playing man to man, gave upon more layups than a sixth grade CYO team ... hello zone defence.

The second was the Fischer team minus two. This team came within the proverbial whisker of winning three or four games ... good defence, but fade-o-rama in the last five minutes. The loses hurt whatever confidence this team might have had during the first part of the Big East league play.

The third Warrior team is composed of the twins, plus six scholarship players to help them out. This is the most interesting team because it is the future. Maybe, for that reason, I like this team the most of all.

It appears it may all come together for these 5 under-classmen yet this year. Obviously, we will see in these last games.

Yeah I was gonna say, how were you not surprised / shocked by Matt landing directly on his head as well as Deonte's mom dying and the subsequent transfer? Those events were hard to predict although apparently you predicted it first, I can't say for sure but we probably win a few more games with those guys playing.

Hello Big East Tourney Title!

ASMU

This entire thread is equal parts hilarious and sad.

Why, because I'm saying the last-place team has a shot to win the conference tourney???  Nobody actually thinks it could happen...but it would make the tourney a little more fun if they get to play DePaul in the first game...just to get the hopes up for a day or two.  Nothing wrong with having a little fun with the scenarios, as long as you don't get all worked up when they don't happen!

Win every day.

I was hoping stupid coach catch phrases would die with the last coach ("I want players that can dribble, pass and shoot" ... uh OK) and Win Every Day really sucks when you're losing every day.

Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.
