I agree with those who say 1 of the 3 scholarships needs to go to a point guard who can get it done starting immediately next year, whether it's a JUCO or graduate transfer.  I have heard that the staff likes Haanif's potential to play the point guard position, and I think this may be the long term solution at the position.  You can't put that roll into the hands of a freshman who has never played the position before, but he does have the skill set to get it done.  Shoots it good but not great, so he can keep the defense honest.  Handles the ball very well, has really good court vision, and is unselfish.  All very important for a point guard.  He isn't super quick or athletic, but what stands out to me is he is very under control, pretty smooth.  Just like Sandy this year, while he may not be ready to contribute a ton next year, I don't think he'll be overwhelmed by the competition because he doesn't really get outside of his game.  Again, hard to take a lot away from highlight videos, especially ones as cut and edited as this one, but I like how much control over the game he seems to have in this video.

Agree with your assessment, wades. One thing I've noticed about him is he uses his body exceptionally well when going to the basket. Has a good frame already for Todd to put some weight on, which will help him finish at the rim.

Justin Bibbs, who Eric Bossi said compares closely to Anim, has been Virginia Tech's best player and leading scorer as a freshman.

I think Sacar Anim is pretty comparable to Virginia Tech freshman Justin Bibbs who we ended up under rating a bit last spring.

He's even tangentially related to VPI....I DON"T WANT ANYTHING TO DO WITH HIM!!!

So, Wojo has said that he will only offer scholarships to players he thinks can contribute.   He offers one of his 3 available scholarships to what appears to be a late blooming shooting guard, a coach's kid, with good athleticism, decent defense, and an improving jumpshot.   Because this kid is a late bloomer, MU is the first official offer from a high major.    Instead of congratulating Wojo for getting on this kid first, there are those who are critical.    I love this place.

Ignore them. Just about everyone who has seen the kid play live in Minnesota is impressed and can't for the life of them understand why the Gophers(in a similar situation as us) haven't offered.

He has a lot of really solid game to him and he would be our 5th man of the class with 2 open spots still left. Well, worth the gamble.

I would rather be in Wojo situation having this late bloomer as a back up plan to potentially work out then be in Pitino's situation where a late bloomer from his own state could blow up in his face.

I am hoping Sacar commits.

He just committed to Northwestern.

Where are you seeing that? All I can gather from twitter is that Northwestern is visiting him today.

LOL

Certainly gave me a brief shock there, Dish. I think it will be interesting to see what the next couple weeks present for Anim. Now that he does have a legit high-major offer, I have to imagine other schools that are interested will follow suit. Wouldn't surprise me to see Northwestern, Minnesota, and Miami make offers soon. Really hope Wojo can get him back on campus in the next couple weeks and get a commit.
