4 players in the NBA in 6 years, from any background, is an extremely impressive track record that can't be discounted. Add in Vander and that's 5 NBA players in 6 years. That's legit.

Buzz leaving also means Hank will go to the NBA from Marquette...so I give Buzz credit for that one as well, since Hank was never coming to MU as long as Buzz was here.

Kemp was a 1st round draft pick out of a JUCO after he left Kentucky, Malone was drafted by the ABA out of HS shortly before the merger, and Hawkins went to Iowa for a year before being expelled due to a very loose connection to a point shaving scandal and being officially barred from the NBA draft.

I knew that the Kemp mention was iffy but I looked it up:

"Kemp decided to enroll at Kentucky. However, he left the team in November 1988 after he was accused of pawning two gold chains that had been reported stolen from his teammate Sean Sutton, the son of then Kentucky head coach Eddie Sutton. Sean Sutton did not press charges, but Kemp transferred to Trinity Valley Community College in Texas.[8] After a semester at TVCC, where he did not play, 19-year-old Shawn Kemp declared himself eligible for the 1989 NBA Draft."

So he WAS enrolled at a D1 school...
And he WAS enrolled at a JUCO...
But never played for either.

He's in some kind of gray area: never played but enrolled.

Buzz gets 1/2 negative credit for Kevon too. While its true that #5 wanted to leave MKE for college, it is also true that he didn't want to play for Bumstead.

Yes 4ever.  We are aware you know Kevon Looney.

So Doc, unless we could have figured out a way to move Marquette out of Milwaukee Looney wasn't coming. Makes the identity of our coach beside the point, aina?
