What is the largest audience in all of radio today?  Answer the Rush Limbaugh show, which gets slightly more listeners than NPR. (note Rush is one person offering opinions while NPR is an entire news organization).  So say something on this show and it gets heard.

Mark Belling filled in today (Dec 29) for a vacationing Limbaugh and in the third hour (1PM to 2PM CT) went off on MU about the gay marriage discussion in philosophy class and especially suspending Prof John McAdams.  No direct link to his rant but this will get you close.

I know we have two locked threads on this subject so no need to cover it all over again.  And soon enough the mods will lock this thread too.

My only comment is this story is starting to get more legs outside of Wisconsin.  Last week it was Fox News (Steve Hayes) and now on the Rush Limbaugh show.

It is not going away and maybe gathering steam nationally.

Sorry, can't whip up any outrage over this. Blue vs. red. Liberal vs. conservative. Fox vs. MSNBC.

I'm worn out from it all.

What's your point...that the US is packed with tea bagging conservatives? Congratulations.

That's my last comment on this political crap. Done getting sucked into these pissing matches. You win.

You mean those who even bothered to vote?  The lowest turnout since 1942.

I didn't ever think it possible, but so am I.

I took my cousin's advice, just turn the media off, because if you don't see or hear anything you don't have anything to get worked up about.

This is, without a doubt, the post of the year!

Hateful homophobic speech meant to show that Groin is really a tolerant person.  Groin, go look up tea-bagging and think really hard about what you did here.  Because if you attacked gays or women in this manner, you would have been banned from this board.  But this is acceptable because your are attacking conservatives but really showing you hate for homosexuals.  This kind of hate speech will not get you banned.

Well done sir!

No it isn't.  It is gathering steam in one of the many echo-chambers that dominate American discourse today.  I can't tell you how many friends on Facebook that I have on either side that get all bent out of shape on the most minor of topics, but all they are doing are talking to people with the same point of view.

And the general public yawns and moves on with their day.

And if you are watching Fox News and listening to Rush Limbaugh, and taking your cues that they are representative of the country at large, you have been fooled.  You are participating in an echo-chamber, a large one, but an echo-chamber nevertheless.

Yeah and the same country elected Obama twice.  Many Americans are moderates who swing back and forth depending on short term feelings and issues - they are the ones that determine elections.
