We have a physical presence. We have a player taller than 6'7" able to play. I don't expect him to be a savior, but at least we aren't a team of midgets anymore  8-)

Was amused at how 'buzz-ish' wojo sounded on his radio show saying that MU is in the 330's sizewise without Luke.
Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

Going to be fun.

Only downside is if things don't really improve, we lose the optimism of gaining a player lol

The stupid in me wishes he would just sit the rest of the year and get the extra year of eligibility when we could be a very good team instead of using this half year of eligibility when chances are we aren't a tourney team with or without him.

Don't think it matters. He only has 2.5 years of eligibility.

So if he sits out second half of this year...he what plays two years then has to quit in December of the 3rd year?

Pretty sure he has 2 years left after this year regardless what happens.

Part of me wishes that as well, but it's awfully hard to keep a young guy off the floor that long (22 months)...

True.  I know it isn't much but maybe without him we lose our first NIT game.  With him, maybe we make a little run in the NIT which gives the returning players a little taste of tourney fever.

Nope.  He would have 3 years if he were to sit out the second semester.

I agree, there's no way Luke wants anything but to be out on the floor with these guys as soon as possible and he deserves to be, but the selfish fan in me wishes he would just wait it out for my own pleasure.

tower912

I'm excited.   I was one of those who did not think this team would be .500.   If Luke can give MU a consistent 10/7 +interior presence, I will be proven wrong.   And that is OK.

Not sure it works that way. I thought Dodds said he only has 2.5 left. Maybe i read it wrong.

mileskishnish72

I hope he is a savior but wait and see, he might not be that good and it will be Derrick's fault - just like he's messed up JJJ and JD.

2.5 years of eligibility right now, yes.  But if he sat out the rest of this year he would have 3 years of eligibility remaining.  Meaning we would have him around for 1 entire extra season.

GGGG

I think he needs to be out there now.  We are only 8 games into the season.  Plenty of time for him to make a significant impact on the season and a potential post season run.

Eligibility is a five year clock. For Luke, it started when he got to Indiana. If he sits out the clock still ends in 2-1/2 years. He wouldn't gain a sixth year for sitting out when he's healthy. If he got injured, it could help him get a sixth year on appeal, but out certainly wouldn't be automatic.

Right.  But mid season you essentially lose a year of eligibility that you don't lose when you transfer at the end of the school year...unless you sit a year and a half.

So for Luke, he played 1/2 of his freshman year, sat half of his freshman year, will sit half of his sophomore year, play half of his sophomore year, and then play his junior and senior years and have no more eligibility left.  Played 3 years in a 4 year window and used all of his eligibility.  But if he sat the rest of this year he would have played half of his freshman year, sat half of his freshman year, sat all of his sophomore year, and played his junior, senior, and 5th year.  So played 3.5 years in a 5 year window.

Good point, Wades. You got me on that, forgot Luke was the same class as Deonte and Duane.

Nope. He has 3.5 years left on his clock and 3 years competition eligibility. That is, as fibre end of the fall semester he has 3.5 years to play in 3 different seasons.
