I'm taking the fact that the local papers put him on the all state team (4th team) and the fact that there aren't too many big name programs recruiting him.  I'm doubting that he's some great, hidden talent.  Not to mention, the recruiting websites aren't thoroughly managed well.  Often times they have parts of them that aren't updated for months.  I would be surprised if the  next update didn't have Nick out of top 60.

It's comparing apples and oranges.

All-state honors are voted on by a bunch of small town papers who only see Nos play against other small town teams.

National scouting services base their rankings mostly on the AAU circuit playing against top players from around the country.

And that is the problem with the rankings.  AAU basketball isn't as consistently coached as High School.  X's and O's aren't nearly as prevalent as they are in AAU.   AAU is more of a showcase of the top talent around the country.  Fundamentals and defense aren't coached up, but it does give an opportunity for kids to travel around the country.  There's always been the argument that the rise of AAU ball has actually hindered the development of basketball players in the USA.  Many coaches are more or less, recruiters rather than actual coaches that care about the development of their players, promising kids false dreams.  To me, I'm surprised this topic gets little attention by the analysts.  I've heard Bilas go off against it as well as Bill Rafftery, but each of their comments was short spurted.

Why bash the kid?  You're on a posting binge lately, but what's the point of this?  He's a highly rated kid from nearby that clearly showed an interest in MU.  The coach he committed to is gone, so he's making a wise decision to get more information.  The day he mentioned he was re-opening up his recruitment, he immediately got offers from Xavier, Creighton, Illinois, and Iowa Sate.  Bigger schools weren't offering previously because he committed to MU so early, but now that he mentioned he's open, they aren't wasting any time contacting him.  We'll eventually see how it plays out, but there's no point in downplaying his abilities right now.  I hope we can keep him around.

According to the link above Jeff Chew, Brad Autry and  Reynolds are lined up for VT.

For those of you who don't click the link I know it is Issac but the article calls him Jeff in the opening.

According to author, "I would think a coach with Buzz's (sic Brent) outsized personality might need a second in command in order to unruffle the player's feathers after a dressing down ..."

An earlier SB article referred to Bubs as having an "abrasive personality."

Might we conclude that VaTec fans have much keener insight into Brett's character than the possibly naive Warrior fan? Or, has Beauregard abandoned the Navarro Junior College jig and just come out and showed his real colours to the folks in Blackswamp?

It is a common practice (a little sleazy if you ask me) for a Head Coach to not formally sign his previous assistants for a
couple of weeks.....

If they are "unemployed" they can freely talk to all previous contacts.....Whether they be signed "MU recruits" or even "MU players".....

It is a "hole" in the college basketball system that "certain" coaches utilize to grab as much talent to the new school as possible.....

So basically Buzz is going after our players......Which he considers his players even though we paid him $2.8 million to sign these  athletes....

Either way.....We will be fine....

Chew I am pretty sure is definitely working the phones for Buzz right now.....

That is why I believe WOJO is trying to protect "our turf" by not going to the Final 4.....

Buzz is smiling and congratulating WOJO with one hand.....and trying to sign away MU's recruits with the other.....

Just the way it works in the slimey world of Brent Williams......

MU should have held the contracts of those assistant coaches for a "couple of weeks" to completely let WOJO
evaluate if he wished to keep them.....Then Buzz would be committing an NCAA violation if he had contacted them for VT.....

Stick to your day job dude as you have no clue what the heck your talking about. WOJO thinks he can do better? What a stupid comment. Why don't you go watch the NY2LA this weekend. I think you will take that comment back once you see him. The reason nobody else has offered the kid is because he committed to Marquette after his sophomore season. He is already ranked higher than Duane and trust me when I say the team playing tonight in the Final Four will be offering him ASAP. Bo couldn't be happier that the kid has re opened his recruitment. Now they have an in and will work just like WOJO will to develop that relationship.  WOJO will be off to a really bad start if he cannot keep Nick committed.

Attached Rivals for 2015 was updated ten days ago, with him at #61.

Since he committed to MU early, some of the bigger schools didn't offer.  Now they are.

Do some research before spitting out all of these posts.

All I ask for is a rebuttal that disputes what I said.  You've only confirmed what I have said.  I hope you're not a lawyer.

It seems to me that a rebuttal is exactly what you got.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Yes, yes it was a rebuttal.  Not a good one.... but it was one.  I mean... top 60 isn't 61 and he didn't give me the names of any new big schools that were recruiting Nick.  Ohhhhhhhhh well.

injuryBug

Everyone bashes AAU ball but the fact is in HS ball you do not get to face top players in your state let alone country 4-6 times in one weekend.  You can run all the set plays you want in HS but in college defenses adjust and at some point players need to make plays.

Nick is the real deal

Dumbass like I said, just wait for the offers to start. When a kid commits as a sohpmore schools watch but normally stay away. They have stayed away but they won't anymore. I will give you a school right now: Wisconsin..... Virginia Tech... Xavier, which unlike Marquette made the tournament this year and has a top 10 class coming in next year. Get off this board you absolute idiot

🏀

Illinois, Xavier, Creighton have offered. Wisconsin will be offering in the next 48

Don't need Nick if Jelen comes to MU with his dad.

AAU ball does have the better players, but you're not facing any sophisticated defenses.  If Wiggins had played against better defenses, in AAU, he'd be a much better player right now.  That's the thing with AAU.  It has been criticized for hindering player's development since there is much of a focus on fundamentals in it.
