We have two choices, either MU is smart and doing this correctly or they are grossly incompetent.

MU admin's may have had their issues but I refuse to believe they are as stupid as this looks on the surface.  The presser will change in topic or it will be canceled.

Even if they don't make it a coach announcement, I'm betting it will be a statement that we've reached an agreement in principal with an unnamed individual.  Think about it, classic negotiation.  They have target A who is hesitating, you make it obvious that you are moving on to B.  You either sign B or A comes back and takes the offer.  It's about leveraging A.  As the offerer though you have to be happy with B though if the bluff is called.

Ding, ding, ding.  We have a winner.  A's deadline past without response, so announce the presser (subtext to go with B) and let A sleep on it overnight. I really hope A rethinks his decision, but am happy with either.

Edit - sorry grabbed wrong quote initially.

Cuonzo Martin was on the verge of being run out if Tennessee on a rail and got a lucky as hell break when Duke lost. God no!!

Cuonzo can't recruit.  Bruce Weber's name came up as well.   Next topic please.  None of these will be MU's next coach due to their inability to recruit top 100 players.

That sounds exactly why they might be our coach.  This is the craziest coaching search ever.

Cords will start to announce there is no coach at this time and then mid-sentence Shaka's entrance music will hit and Cords will look around, confused and then look shocked as he seems our man emerge. Shaka will run to the podium.  The entire thing is being set up by Vince McMahon.

I think that Cords should have both Shaka and Howland right there, sitting in the audience.  Then he should put two hats on the podium -- one with a picture of Shaka; one with a picture of Ben.  Then say, we've got a contract signed by both of these fine coaches, but we're only going to sign one.  Then do a double or triple fake when deciding which hat to put on.

This is outstanding.

I feel like everyone is carrying their weekend bender into this week and I can't say I'm mad about it. Confusing at times, yes. Entertaining for sure.

People are seriously losing their sh*t coming up with all these theories and scenarios. It's getting difficult to keep track what's real and what isn't anymore.

Even if you can't give us a name....at least tell us they'll be introducing a new coach.

I refuse to believe they're dumb enough to hold a presser to "update" the media and reveal who has turned them down.

I agree. If he is having a press conference to say sh##, we can all watch C-span and get enough of that. If he has nothing to announce, then get back to work until you do.

Haha that's hilarious.  It would also be hilarious if he had those 2 sitting in the audience, and then they announced that they do not have a hire and cannot comment on who they have contacted or who the candidates are.
