The USAF has the highest standards for personnel. The Army, Navy, and USMC are full of people the AF would never touch. And frankly, I took great pride and comfort knowing my fellow airmen were the best. The guy fixing my jet was someone I was proud to serve with.

Marquette must maintain standards at intake in order to ensure its community is the best it can be. A guy who lights a woman's hair on fire should not be allowed anywhere near the Marquette campus. If BW feels that maintaining such standards is hampering his ability to win then perhaps he needs to reassess how or why he wants to win in that way.

I am thankful BW is now VPI's problem. If VPI wants to allow someone like Malek Harris to represent them that is their business. The good news is that BW is gone. Aim High, Marquette!

I've never served in the military and wouldn't pretend  to know, but I'm pretty sure every service member thinks that of whatever branch they serve in

There is empiricism behind this. ASVAB scores, criminal waivers, etc... Ask anyone who has served and they will tell you the USAF has the most stringent standards. This goes back to the founding of the old AAC and is also due to the technical nature of the mission. USAF doesn't need grunts.

I believe you. I just know a lot of Navy dudes who would probably tell you different  :)

You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Irregardless of the grammar, we knew what 4ever meant.

My mistake. Just to clarify....fook him.

No doubt. The Navy has some of the toughest enlisted programs in the world because of nuclear propulsion systems and special weapons.

But a Navy warship is a floating city and many menial tasks are required to make that city function. As a result, the navy has many rates that do not require a significant amount of training or expertise. The USAF has no such requirements so on the whole the USAF has the highest standards for entry.

Irregardless of wrong words we knew what Murs meant.

Irregardless may be my least favorite "word" ever. However, it does appear in most modern dictionaries, thereby confirming my suspicion that the English language is slowly being destroyed.

If irregardless means without regard, what does regardless mean?

Irrespective of application, the irregular use of irregardless does not make it an actual word.

Never have  so many owed so much to so few. Howland "mad" Smith on Iwo Jima USMC vets performance.  Still the greatest battle in this country's history where "uncommon valor was a common virtue."

May Smedley Butler, John Basilone and Chesty Puller live forever.

Semper Fi. Not many know but I was a PLC. When PX Kelly grounded everyone the USAF gave us commissions. I haven't regretted a second but I earned my butter bars at Quantico.

Perfect.

Have to imagine this was orchestrated for awhile. Harris was never coming to MU, but Buzz kept him on the line.

We will find out two years from now that Buzz illegally recruited Harris.

This pretty well sums it up, I think. Now, MU know full well what they were getting into regarding 'taking chances' and were complicit in the beginning...it's frankly why Buzz was hired. Given certain events, things needed to change/be tightened up. Buzz didn't like it/didn't like being told what to do, etc., but lets be honest, MU's hands aren't completely clean in this whole thing either.

Absolutely correct.
