Virginia had two exhibitions I believe

I'm not sure what your point is.  Do you mean to argue that exhibitions are better reparation than controlled scrimmages?
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

The Seattle Art Museum had an exhibition of Gauguin in Polynesia. Enchanting.

No point, just throwing it out there...exhibitions may work for some, maybe works for others., may not for others.  Personally, I think the idea of exhibitions truly contributing to the success and failure of the team or even having a meaningful impact is remote at best.

Flawed team is a flawed team.  Talent sitting on the bench, not ready or not willing to be put in....whichever it was, not sure an exhibition change would do anything.

Even as the resident optimist, I am ready to put a bullet in this letdown of a season.

I'm looking forward to discussing 2014-2015

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

+100.

3-12 vs. tourney teams. The 300+ teams didn't mean anything. Giving props to that makes you almost as clueless as the original post.

This season was a long slow painful trip, death by papercuts........come back Humbled and Hungry, Warrior up for 2014-2015

Bad PG play, bad SG play, bad SF play, bad PF play, bad C play...bad team.

Yet returned all but 3 guys from a Big East (not watered down version) Championship and Elite 8 team...to not making the NIT??  This is worse than the fall off after the 2003 Final Four...

Never realized Trent Lockett was so valuable to last year's team...because we know Mayo did virtually nothing for the Elite 8 team having sat out first half of year and being in doghouse....and this year Mayo put up better numbers than Vander in every category...other than minutes played....so...damn we miss Trent Lockett...

Yep.  This is the best description I've seen for this season.

If MU had scheduled better theyd be in the NIT. If they had scheduled better, and won two more games, they'd be in the NCAA. Scheduling was not the reason we lost 14 games, but it put MUs back against the wall.

It's not an opinion. Every team would do it, but some don't want to sacrifice the money.

I agree coaches would rather do scrimmages, but most don't because the lost revenue from the exhibition games.  However, we also hear that money is the reason we need a certain number of home games and have to schedule crappy 300+ RPI buy games.  Having the exhibitions and using the money to schedule better teams at the bottom might provide a greater benefit to the program than the scrimmages.  Maybe even doing more 2-1 or 3-1 deals.

Scrimmages actually.  Georgetown and us.

Yes, that's actually what I meant...not games, but scrimmages.  When I saw their schedule last night, no exhibitions.  Poor execution on my part.

Completely agree with the logic, just not the input we often get of needing the buy games we schedule for the money.  Our television deal pays more than twice the old one, we are seeing payout from more tournament shares than ever, and attendance was actually up this year.  So pretending we're poor is a lame excuse for the bad buy games, along with the other excuses: calendar not aligning, bad luck, and the if we are in the tournament running that the NCAA should treat us differently from others and look at our challenging games and not the overall SOS/RPI number that was dragged down by terrible buy games.  Didn't matter one lick this year (actually in terms of saving money, probably was for the better), but another thing that was poop in a season covered in it.

This is good analysis.

GoldenWarrior11

Looking past all the frustrations, disappointments, and the general down season, I think not playing in any post-season tournaments is, by far, the biggest let down.

Having said that, I truly feel like we did not deserve to play in any tournament.  It just wasn't a good team.
