10 pts, 9 boards.   Keep up the good work.   There are so many interesting pieces on this team.   The house building clearly is not yet complete, but it is clear that there are some good building blocks.

I thought his rebound at the buzzer might have given him a double-double.
Don't know if it was counted.

Juan was awesome today. Did a nice job when he was on Maurice Creek, too. I admit I hoped for more from him when he was coming in, but he's really done a great job of fitting in and knowing his role. Incredibly hard-working guy. Hopefully Steve starts to understand both ends like Juan can, because he's got a similar motor but probably more upside.

Agreed.   Steve needs to increase his motor.   He is absolutely crucial next year.

We R Final Four

Juan needs to avoid those two bad passes every game.

why is it always about race on this board?

I think this might have been Juan's best game.  Be interested if anyone can come up with another.  His D and rebounding were special today.  Glad he could do it in front of family and friends.

Why was what he said a big deal? All he said was call him lightskinned - which he and Trent are. White is white. Black is black. Asian is Asian. Etc. Or would you prefer him to say that one person who played for that school that one year?

edit-

It wasn't used as a derogatory statement.

Thank you, Bricky, that's exactly what I was going to reply with.

The main idea I'm trying to get across is that Juan's game today was very appreciated, especially his rebounding , which was also a strength of Trent Lockett.

I'm not really sure that it was until your comment.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

GGGG

His energy at the beginning of the game was enormous.  Huge rebounds and very good defense.  10 points is a complete bonus.

It might have been sarcasm without the stupid teal. Juan played well but those real dumb turnovers can quickly offset what he brings on the offensive glass. I'd like to see the teams more balanced, though. Juan coming off the bench with Gardner instead of playing at the same time as O2, Dwil and Jake - especially since we need the rebounding more without Chris' size.

raul

Juan is always a hustle player and he has become a very good rebounder. He also seems to be a good FT shooter which is big in close games.

Yeah, and when Jake was hitting some shots, he looked like that other white guy we had a few years back who knocked down 3s.

And Derrick occasionally looked like that other black point guard we had last year.

And how 'bout Gardner? Looked like the other black center we had our Final Four year.

And let's not forget Jamil. Looked like the other dark-skinned forward we had when we made our first Sweet 16 run under Buzz.

Huh?  You identify our players by their skin shade instead of by their name?  Really stupid.

Back to the point of the post... Juan was a STUD today with his hustle and his boards.  I think he gave us at least 3 additional posessions.

Taylor, unfortunately, gave 2 of them back to GW.

I think the hustle/rebound/garbage points/putbacks role is a critical part of Buzz's offense.  Juan is now proving he can do it.  I think Burton will prove same over time as well.
