I dont get how Marquette fans have such distain for Illinois. MU hasnt played the, in god knows how long, its not an instate rival and its not Ntore Dame. I just dont get how everybody has such a big problem with the Illini. I personally love them.

I assume you weren't around on the other message boards back in 2003 when we were barraged by Illini fans saying they were going to hire Crean from us because they are such a vastly superior program.  Then the "did they offer", "did he turn them down" debate that followed.  We had a mini replay last year when they thought they could waltz in and take Buzz if they felt like it, but it wasn't nearly as bad as 2003.

Then there's obviously a large percentage of MU fans that are from WI and cheer against any team in Illinois.  But in an attempt to build some consensus with Illini fans, I hope we both beat the Buckeyes today.

FWIW, there are some who think he just grabbed the wrong hat by mistake then corrected his error.
But we ought to tear the kid a new one just in case.

Headline of today's Chicago Tribune is "SEALED WITH A DIS". As Alexander picked up the Illinois hat he said He was "going to University of..." Putting the Illinois hat down and picking up the KU hat, he finished his sentence "Kansas".

No accident, but he oddly tried to deflect blame, claiming "It was something my teammates thought I should do". I (and everyone else who commented) wasn't "tearing the kid a new one". But it was obviously an unnecessary, childish and totally dick move on Alexander's part.

Certainly not the first time the hat trick has been played

Don't think anyone said that this dick move had an ounce of originality - only that it was a dick move.

Before he finished speaking to reporters, Alexander lifted Illinois' hopes once again.

He said he hadn't signed a letter of intent because he wanted to "get a feel" for being committed to Kansas before signing. Asked if that meant he could change his mind, he said, "There might be a chance."

Forget 'bout a dick move. This cat's a flat out dick.

No denying the dick move by a FIB, that's a given.

What surprised me with some of the commentary here is that this has happened a number of times in football and basketball recruiting in the last few years, yet some seemed surprised by it.  It's a total dick move, and one that keeps getting repeated by 17 year old kids that are idolized and worshipped and pampered most of their lives....how shocking that it happens.   ::)

His old man just needed an envelope with team logos and it would have beaten T.May's reaction.

This is a rather entertaining video.  I can't imagine being an MU fan with that happening though.
