I think that place has been a revolving door of problematic clubs, IIRC. My only encounter with a strange dress code was at a concert in 2005 at the rave, when all concert goers were ordered to wear any hat normal, or to take it off. No hat cocking, for fear of people getting "dissed", and starting a fight.
