Why isn't this guy ranked any higher? Unreal jumper with elite athleticism and size for his position. Are the ranking gurus clowning on his competition that badly? Put Vander alone in the gym and he doesn't hit 55% and he's a 2nd round pick.

ChitownSpaceForRent

A bold prediction. If he stays all 4 years he will be Marquette's all time leading scorer.

Had he committed to Kentucky he would have jumped up in the rankings.

Probably some truth to that.

Already love this guy before he sets foot on campus. Color me a huge Duane fan.

Think he'll rock the head band at MU? I like that look - thought it looked awesome on Lazar.

Diener had Cordell Henry playing in front of him...A senior who was a proven producer..Think his frosh stats might have been higher if he only had Derrick Wilson to compete with?

Read it, saw it, thought it was great.  I think a good expectation level for Duane's freshman year is RSCI #40 Travis Diener's freshman year.  24 mpg, 8 ppg, 2 apg, 40%+ 3P%, playing point as well as off the ball at 2.  I don't necessarily think he'll put up the crazy high 132 ORTG that Diener did, only because his TO rate is likely to be higher than Diener's ultra-low 13% TO rate.  However, I could easily see him posting an ORTG well north of 100, like DJames at 106 his frosh year.

Here's my scenario analysis for Duane:

20% probability
He possesses the best of both Diener and James' worlds, the elite athleticism of DJames, the shooting prowess of Diener, and the healthy cockiness of both.  He accentuates the positives and wins Big East ROY.

28-30 mpg
13 ppg
50% from 2
43% from 3
75% from FT
3.5 apg
3 rpg
1 spg
2 topg
117 ORtg

69.5% probability
He brings much needed shooting and energy off the bench, and becomes the Davante to Derrick's CO2, being subbed offense for defense and generally splitting minutes down the middle.  However, he is too turnover prone, a bit erratic with shot selection, and slightly lost on defense, capping his minutes.  Still, an excellent rookie season.

20 mpg
8 ppg
46% from 2
40% from 3
70% from FT
2 apg
1.5 rpg
0.8 spg
1.5 topg
106 ORtg

10% probability
He basically mirrors Junior Cadougan's real first year, struggling to take the true reins of the offense.  It takes a while to adjust to major D1 ball, and the shots/drives he was used to making with ease are now defended well.  He turns it over more than he assists, and gets beat on D too much to stay on the court for extended periods of time.  However, he shows flashes of brilliance in crucial moments, like the WVU Big East tournament game.

14 mpg
4 ppg
42% from 2
30% from 3
65% from FT
1.5 apg
1.0 rpg
0.5 spg
1.7 topg
97 ORtg

0.5% probability
He is buried on the bench behind Derrick, Dawson, Todd, Jajuan, and Jake.  He sees some action in the non-con, but is way too erratic and shot-happy while getting abused on D like a rented mule.  He gets Ferguson-type minutes during conference play then transfers to UWGB next spring.

WAY TOO LONG OF A STORY SHORT: I expect scenario 2 to play out, with the big leap taking place his sophomore year.  He brings a lot to the table that successful freshman PGs DJames and Diener did, but also seems a bit TO prone and slight of stature for the instant stardom.  However, I would not be shocked to see him address some of these known weaknesses this offseason to win Big East ROY, nor would I be shocked to see him replicate Cadoogie Howser's up and down initial full season.  I WOULD be shocked to see scenario 4 play out, and mostly just put it there as a joke.  I'm fine with any of scenarios 1, 2, or 3 playing out as laid out above.  I just think he'll produce more than the average player at his recruiting rank, but I could definitely be wrong.  Exciting times ahead.

Absolutely no comparison between Henry and De. Wilson. Cordell was a stud. Derrick is a good guy, but likely only a role player.
I thought you were dead. Willie lives rent free in Reekers mind. Rick Pitino: "You can either complain or adapt."

I've never seen such a jacked up form on a perimeter shot.    Might want to fix that.

Bocephys

I love his passing. He's also the opposite of DJO is that he's right handed but loves dunking lefty.
