I dont know how often they re-rank the class but if they re-rank 2013 before next season I can see him jumping up even more in them. Made a pretty considerable jump this past year as well.

Take a look at Trey Burkes senior video below...I think Duane looks better than him at the same point in their careers. Granted the competition Burke faced was probably much harder than Dominican however, I his athletic ability looks better IMO.

I think this team still has a good chance to be silly good.  JuJuan and Duane are the real deal.  Jamil, Devante, Stevie T, Otule and even McKay up front. Big chance for Todd to prove he still has the promise he showed at times in his freshman year in the back court with the freshman. That doesn't even mention Burton or Dawson.

Very, very excited about the incoming class.  Obviously still disappointed about Vander, but the opportunities are there, and thankfully, I think we'll have the guys.

Those three guys played 85 minutes a game between them as freshmen.Cupboard was close to bare at their positions. That won't happen under Buzz.

His athleticism is silly. Regardless of the competition, his hops are off the charts, his ability to score in traffic is really, really impressive, and he hits contested jumpers. I can't believe he shot 55% from beyond the arc--that's stupid. This kid is going to be something.

Trey Burke barely broke the top 100 2 years ago. Last year Dominic Artis for Oregon was ranked 55 by Scout. Archidiacno for Nova 60....Jordan Adams UCLA 74. Stauskas for Michigan 86 Obekpa for St Johns 64 Smith-Rivera for Georgetown was 41 Cauley for Kentucky 48 just to name a few.....it happens every year.

Read it, saw it, thought it was great.  I think a good expectation level for Duane's freshman year is RSCI #40 Travis Diener's freshman year.  24 mpg, 8 ppg, 2 apg, 40%+ 3P%, playing point as well as off the ball at 2.  I don't necessarily think he'll put up the crazy high 132 ORTG that Diener did, only because his TO rate is likely to be higher than Diener's ultra-low 13% TO rate.  However, I could easily see him posting an ORTG well north of 100, like DJames at 106 his frosh year.  

Here's my scenario analysis for Duane:

He possesses the best of both Diener and James' worlds, the elite athleticism of DJames, the shooting prowess of Diener, and the healthy cockiness of both.  He accentuates the positives and wins Big East ROY.

He basically mirrors Junior Cadougan's real first year, struggling to take the true reins of the offense.  It takes a while to adjust to major D1 ball, and the shots/drives he was used to making with ease are now defended well.  He turns it over more than he assists, and gets beat on D too much to stay on the court for extended periods of time.  However, he shows flashes of brilliance in crucial moments, like the WVU Big East tournament game.

He is buried on the bench behind Derrick, Dawson, Todd, Jajuan, and Jake.  He sees some action in the non-con, but is way too erratic and shot-happy while getting abused on D like a rented mule.  He gets Ferguson-type minutes during conference play then transfers to UWGB next spring.



WAY TOO LONG OF A STORY SHORT: I expect scenario 2 to play out, with the big leap taking place his sophomore year.  He brings a lot to the table that successful freshman PGs DJames and Diener did, but also seems a bit TO prone and slight of stature for the instant stardom.  However, I would not be shocked to see him address some of these known weaknesses this offseason to win Big East ROY, nor would I be shocked to see him replicate Cadoogie Howser's up and down initial full season.  I WOULD be shocked to see scenario 4 play out, and mostly just put it there as a joke.  I'm fine with any of scenarios 1, 2, or 3 playing out as laid out above.  I just think he'll produce more than the average player at his recruiting rank, but I could definitely be wrong.  Exciting times ahead.
