Because it's better than nobody trying to take control of the game.  A dead ball turnover from trying to create something versus a desperate bad shot because the offense was stagnant for 35 seconds - is the turnover really worse?  I'll give props to the kid who wanted the team on his back...and his numbers suggest he was the best one for the job tonight.  Sure he shot a ton, but I wouldn't want to redistribute half his shots to guys who just weren't in the flow and hope they came away with a better result - a better ideal on a night when things are working, which wasn't tonight.

+1    When did SOTG mean that a player was flawless in every aspect of the game?  SOTG is the guy who puts the team on his back and makes MU win.

Vander put the team on his back and MU won, they don't win if he doesn't.  Quit yer bitchin!

This isn't like last year when SOTG turned into the Jae Crowder Award.

Blue FTW.  Stepped up down the stretch.

I'm trying to figure out how this is even a question. Vander wasn't flawless but he so obviously was the best player on the floor, and he came through when we needed it. Plus, he hit the FTs to clinch it.

We haven't had many no-brainers, but this is one of them.

I agree. Seems like Blue gets graded differently than rest of team. He was our best player last night and very big reason we won the game.

Blue.  Taylor had a good minute but was killed on defense and the defensive boards the whole game.  D Wilson had a few nice plays, Cadougan was solid until he missed 2 of 3 big FTs and J Wilson was pretty good.

The whole team was killed on defense.

13lue.  Jwil had a monster 2nd half and Taylor Jr. had a nice stretch in the 1st but Vander delivered throughout the game.  In addition to a nice stat-stuffing line, he had some key plays including: monster put-back, impressive individual D on key 10-second call, cold-blooded 3 to tie it and clutch FTs to seal it.
