I'm taking the Lake Express ferry today and was looking at their website.

There's a Marquette video on the website that's worth a quick peek:

I loved the Lake Express when I took it.   I got to Milwaukee in record time and had no stress because there was no Chicago traffic.   Way overpriced, though.   Cannot afford to make it a habit.

Indeed, I am not sure how both ferries stay in business.  For two people, plus car, round trip, it's $371.

So you have $371 in one hand, and it takes, adding in the time you drive to the terminal, waiting in line, yadda yadda, 7 hours RT.

In the other hand, you have 520 miles of driving, which is about 9 hours, and about $75 in gas.

So, it's $300 to save a couple hours, and not drive through Chicago.  You really have to have $$ to blow to take it.

.. The SSBadger ferry is even worse .. that's 10 hours of ferry time, and saves you even less time driving.

Now, that being said, I recommend the SS Badger as an interesting voyage.

That's great.  43mph is a pretty good clip as well...we usually ski in the 25 to 30 mph and for wakeboarding more like 20mph.

520 miles in a $30,000 vehicle is at least $0.50/mile (gas/depreciation/maintenance/oil changes/tires/tolls).  Sounds like a deal if you do not have to drive through Chicago in summer

it's awesome to see that people took notice of this video and team.  My 2 good buddies are the ones that formed the team only a short time ago when we were still at Marquette.  it was started for people that just wanted to keep skiing once back at school, but no one knew we would get this good.  myself and my buddies have since graduated, but the team is in good hands.  they took 2nd in nationals last year at the D-2 level behind San Diego State.  the team was d-2 based on size of team and the short time of the teams existence.  skiing is an individual sport overall, but this is the epitome of a team.  i met some of my best friends on the team and wouldn't trade my memories of it for anything.

on a side note, if anyone's company would like to help sponsor the team... please do.  since bringing on Lake Express as a sponsor, funding has been cut way back from the school.  the team has to afford the boat and equipment and it gets pretty pricey by years end.

Thanks Guys and Go MU !

You guys should send this video to Mercury Marine which is headquartered in Fon Du Lac...that's a layup for those guys.  It's exactly who they are targeting.  I can't believe they wouldn't help you guys in money and/or gift in kind donations of equipment.
