What are the chances we get back to the tourney next year,   im thinking pretty low unfortunately.    Dang i wish we could have ended it this year with a game.

IF you were the Warrior captain in '46-'47, that makes you around 85 years old, right?

Mama always told me to respect your elders..

I'd say there's an excellent chance that we make the tournament next year.

Buzz has coached four entirely different teams since he has been here.  He has proven he can build a scheme to match the talent and abilities of the players he has.

All those guys who were in the bar underage will be a year older both in mind and body.  They are all gifted basketball players and athletes and will continue to improve.  MU is a young team.  It had FOUR Jrs and Srs on this year's team -- one of whom didn't play most of the year.

New leaders always emerge in an environment that builds them.
When we stop talking, really bad stuff happens.

He basically coached two different teams just this season.

we'll be a ff team well ahead of UW if we can keep it going w/out any more trouble or bad kids.

Dekker is another white hype that will do nothing like Gasser.  Koenig can't carry Duane Wilsons jock

Dekker and Koenig will be good players.  Bo's team was a point away from the Elite 8.  Give them their due, they play hard, solid defense and are always in games it seems despite their perceived lack of athleticism.

MU will make the NCAA tournament next year, probably as a 8 through 10 seed.

Next year will be more of a struggle losing DJO and Jae, and I could see us going like 22-10, 10-8 instead of 25-7, 14-4

Here's what's gone (or needs to be replaced somehow):

- Two starters with over 1120+ min logged each. (Next highest: Junior, 972 min.)
- 47% of MU's point production
- 41% of FTs made
- 69% 3pts made
- 39% steals
- Two go-to scorers

Here's what's left:

- 2 seniors (Junior, Chris - if he comes back)
- 4 juniors (Jamil, Vander, Davante, Jamail)
- 3 sophs (Todd, Derrick, Juan)
- 4 players who have played in back-to-back Sweet 16 runs (Junior, Vander, Davante, Jamail)
---  6 if you include: Jamil was a sitting transfer last year; Chris was injured early this season
- Most of all, Buzz and his staff

NIT is not the right target for this team. Realistic? Well, anything can happen, so yes with so much lost scoring and senior leadership. But the jury is out until Chris's health and future plans are revealed as well as Davante's complete recovery from his knee injury.

If you were to force a prediction from me, I'd say we're a bubble team.

Great post.  After successfully declaring that we'd be a three seed last summer(to a table full of notre dame grads and their ad), I'm saying 10 seed for next year's squad.

I'd say 8-10 seed second round exit but who knows

We have had a few years in a row where we had players that could hit the tough shots. Hayward, Butler, DJO and Crowder. I think we have talent, but I need to see who is going to step up when th game is on the line. I have high hopes for Mayo and Gardner, but you cannot just assume they will be as tough as DJO and Crowder.

Exactly. I'll expand on this as well. When the amigos graduated, you still had guys that could make shots consistently, as well as take care of the basketball.

Right now, I don't see a ton of either coming back next year. Mayo and TJ Taylor better be very good, because giving Vander and Junior the keys scares the mess out of me.

I agree with the last couple posts that having that go-to, tough shots, clutch player is missing (so far) from what we're bringing back. The only thing I can hope is that someone evolves like Jimmy did last year. When Cubi, Acker, Lazar left, look at what we were bringing back to the following season - we were DEFINITELY missing that guy at the end of the season too.
