DG has been ruled out for the game against Rutgers..but there is some optimism that he will be able to play spot minutes against WV...if there is no set back and progression in flexion continues he should practice Thursday and decision on WV will come Firday afternoon.

There is strong conviction that DG will be back for Cinn game at the latest baring any set backs. It is important to note that he has not had any set backs, but the healing process has not occurred as quickly as hoped.

Much better than reading the tea leaves in a twitter post.  Thanks.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Sharpie

Thanks for the update. Hope the big fella sniffs some action to get himself ready for BE tourney and the big dance. Also hope he gets some PT as I will be at the WVU game this Friday.

So where does Andy Katz come off saying he'll miss the rest of the regular season? Nice scoop, Andy.

dwaderoy2004

Never said he would.  Said it's possible.  It's still possible.

Katz = throw sh!t on the wall to see what sticks.

Top priority is to get DG healthy.  If that means following the Andy Katz rehab program, so be it.  DG is a hundred times more important to this team starting on March 11th than he is today.  But I'm sure the medical staff knows this already... so if he's seeing spot minutes on Friday, then he's already ahead of schedule in my book.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

Skatastrophy

It'd be nice to sit Crowder for 5 minutes a half once DG is back in the swing of things.

Big Daddy 84

Just want to clarify...that what I wrote is the current plan...other than being out for Rutgers everything is still undecided.  I cannot say that DG is for sure going to be back for the regular season..I can only tell you that is the current thinking based on his progress..  Thursday will be a big day.

Most of the talk I've seen on DG is speculation on how long he will be out.

Has anyone heard definitively what is wrong with his knee.  All I've heard is it's sprained....not sure what that means.

I realize all that really matters is how soon he will come back...and be productive.

DG has mentioned that his knee cap popped out of place.

I hate to be so naive, but who is bigdaddy and what is his inside scoop?

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

Real Chil check my previous posts on this subject I shared what the DX was and for JJJ my accuracy of my past comments on DG (100% accurate) speak to the validity of my most recent post...I will have to leave it at that.

Disappointed about tomorrow but we can deal without Davante against Rutgers.  We absolutely need 10+ minutes against WVU.  Otherwise, I predict a loss on Friday.

Hopefully we can have a large enough lead in the second half to give Jae and Jamil rest (less than 32 minutes each would be nice).  That short turnaround has me concerned if they have to play 35+ minutes two games so close to one another.

Added, we really need someone in case Jae/Jamil get into foul trouble.  If either of them do against WVU and we are without Davante... we're toast.

EDITED FOR CORRECT DAY.  CAN'T TELL DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FRIDAY & SATURDAY EVIDENTLY!

Other than the game being on Friday, this is 100% true. If we're sitting here Thursday morning saying "If only we had Davante Gardner" against RUTGERS, then something else went catastrophically wrong.

I can GUARANTEE you MU will NOT lose Saturday.  ;D

How are you out for a month with a sprain?

DCWarriors04

We have no clue how bad it was...initially it looked really bad, glad he'll be back soon.

Big Daddy 84

Depends on the class of sprain in this case there are three classes with 3 being the worst indicating a tear of the ligament.

A grade two strain does not require surgery. Temporary bracing can be used to support the joint if it is painful (DG had this for ~7-10 days). Activity is modified or reduced while the ligament heals, usually for several weeks. Ice is used to help control pain and swelling. As the ligament heals, activity is gradually reintroduced. Minor to moderate injuries should recover within four to eight weeks. The key is regaining full range of motion..typically using a stationary bike.  NOTE:  A BIG BIG BIKE FOR DG.

Katz' report isn't wrong to this point.
