MU and Warriors, A Unique "Brand" In The History Of Sports?

+1.  Who cares?  The current MU students surely don't.  If anything, they buy into the whole "Warrior Pride" thing because it's slightly rebellious against the administration, and who doesn't love to hate the "administration" when you're a college kid?

I think it's a little riduclous how people still refer to us as Warriors.  That's not our name.  If it's a slip-up because of what you're used to, that's one thing.  But why blatantly call us something we're not?  Wearing your "Warrior Pride" t-shirts that were made probably 20 days ago. You can still smell the fresh ink on the bright yellow cotton that clearly hasn't been through the spin cycle many times. Sweet, way to be vintage man.  

And then there's the group of alums that won't donate any money to school until we change our name back.  The same people that would yell at students on the phone (me, about 7 years ago, as a student worker making $6/hr calling alum for donation requests) about how appauled they are that we aren't Warriors anymore.  Get over yourself.  If you're going to donate money back to the school that put you where you are right now, do it for the right reasons... not because you loved there basketball team 30 years ago.

+1.   It's how I feel.   When the phone rings from Marquette looking for dough, I donate but I tell them they would get more if they changed the name back.  Instead I give those extra donations to other non-profit groups that don't act in a politically correct fashion.  To this day I own not one shred of Golden Eagle clothing. 

I'll wager every single one of them would rather be Warriors. In fact, since you're such a name change history expert, perhaps you'll recall that immediately prior to Creans idea to name us Gold, Travis Diener was interviewed by a local TV station indicating he wants the old name back. Only losers prefer Golden Eagles.

Is there any shred of evidence about your Crean claims?  I ask this because in one interview I saw Wade was saying they were going back to Warriors after talking to Coach Crean.  Why would Wade say this?

I can't believe the students are even paid to make the alumni calls, thought that was a loyalty thing, but good for them.  I will give my annual donation no matter what the name, but probably make an extra one if it ever changes.

Yup, last month and I had a great conversation with a freshman from Minnesota.  He sent me my pledge card/letter and a nice handwritten note.

And to be clear, I always donate (a small amount cause I have two kids in college) to the phonathon and would never yell at the students.
