Lunardi still has us as a solid #6 seed, going out to Omaha to play California and then Kansas as former signee Taylor.

If we were to emerge for another Sweet 16, then the team would be coming down my way to Atlanta - site of 1977 and facing Tom Crean's #2 seed Indiana and then #1 seed and eventual NCAA champ UNC (my opinion) - our victim for the title!

With my assistant scheduling her wedding for opening weekend this year, i could save a lot of money in travel this year watching our first two games on TV instead of in person for the first time since 2006, and then having a 2 hour drive to the Sweet 16.
The www.valueaddsports.com analysis of basketball, football and baseball players are intended to neither be too hot or too cold - hundreds immerse themselves in studies of stats not of interest to broader fan bases (too hot), while others still insist on pure observation (too cold).

And if it all plays out with MU winning it all, they'd do it on the 35th anniversary of the last Marquette NCAA championship.

The way our season is shaping up...I wouldn't be surprised at all if we played IU in the tournament.  However, I think our seeds will be too close to play in the first round.

madtownwarrior

Speculating in January of who MU might be playing in the tournament in March is about as exciting about listening to somebody talk about their Fantasy Football team....

I am just saying that the story line is there...and the committee will jump all over it if the opportunity presents itself.

Seeing as none of the "predicted" tournament scenarios come to pass, pretty sure this one won't happen.

I don't mind checking out where we are in the bracket pecking order from time to time, but it's still a bit early for me.  I'll check back in a few weeks.

Neither Tom Crean nor Marquette are big enough names for the selection committee to care about the potential storyline.

I seriously hope the committee NEVER EVER selects and/or seeds the field this way.

IIRC, Lunardi had Pitt & Wisconsin in his Final Four at the start of the season.   ::)

The selection committee couldn't care less about potential storylines... at least officially.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

MixItUp

Current Lunardi bracketology report (January 9) has MU a 6 seed playing California in Omaha. Winner of that game moves on to face winner of Kansas - Nevada.

I recall comments a few years back that the NCAA does look for potential match-ups like this.  Cannot recall the source, but if memory serves (o k, that is dangerous I know),  it was someone with intimate knowledge of the selection process.  They also said the committee tries to avoid rematches early in the tournament, if possible.  Obviously, last year with two BE rematches in the 2nd round, that was breached.

WarriorHal

It would be great to be a #6 seed come March. But first, let's try and win a game, something we haven't done for a while. St. John's won't be easy tonight ... nothing will be easy for the rest of this season.

ecompt

we could very well lose eight more games the rest of the season, which would leave us on the bubble.
