Better than an open layup.

I thought he did as best as anybody could being in the position he was in, just my opinion

Bottom line is that I'm sick of this.... 13 mins left up 17 and I'm still thinking to myself... "Definitely still coming down till the final minute to settle this one".... that is not natural for a basketball team but for Marquette it happens ALL THE TIME

Sad, but I was thinking the same thing when we were up 17.  To be fair, I was thinking that against Xavier last year, too.

Problem is only two scorers out on the floor need someone  other that DJO or Joe to score. Hopefully Mayo will work out later in the season. It would be nice if Vanderblue do something other that throw the ball away on this drives.

Tough game. Tough loss. Going to take a few day hiatus from scoop to think about anything but MU hoops. Go get em' on Sunday, boys. That game just became a lot more important.

We should have won this game.

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

And for anyone who feels like being smart... i mean any time we have a big lead we blow it all the time, not that we blow huge leads every game

I thought of this, the only problem is we did not have any TOs. Securing the rebound and dashing down the court in 7 seconds is not a good shot.

Use one of your awesome Professor Crass CD's and translate this.

Sad but I thought the exact same thing.  We stopped playing confident.

That's part of being a fan.  I think that everytime MU or the Packers play.

Switching up to a zone for a few possessions when they cut it under 10 might have been a good switch up.

Definitely lost all momentum and then refs tightened up and we weren't getting any calls.  That arm sweep call on Wilson was bullsh.t, contact was initiated by the defender.

Do people forget about the close games we win???

What about Wash earlier this year, Cuse in the tourney, at St Johns last year.

Weird how these things even out.

This was in no way a close game though.  This was a choke job.   It's different.

Agreed.  I have been saying they should play more zone for weeks now.

This.

One thing if it's tight and they end up with the clutch play.

Quite another when they repeatedly blow double digits leads in the last ten minutes of a game.

I don't know what game you were watching but this wasn't supposed to be a close game when we're up 17 with 13 minutes left.  That's the whole point of everyone's comments.  I'm sure if it was close the whole game and we didn't pull it out that many people wouldn't be saying these things.  But see games like Florida St./Louisville/etc., etc. and the list goes on.

All this nonsense about Blue.  I have never been much of a fan of the guy, but if you blame this loss even remotely on him I don;t know what to say.  Cadougan was horrible tonight, and Mayo killed us in the second half.

We lost this game for two main reasons

1.  Once Georgetown figured out that they could use a guy PLUS a mirror guy on BOTH DJO and Crowder and not have to worry about anyone else beating them, we couldn't score.

2.  We couldn't stop Georgetown's guards from going wherever they wanted nor could we stop Sims or anyone else for that matter.  When they finally switched Blue onto 21 other guys just beat us instead.

Spaniel with a Short Tail

Hated to see us stop pushing the ball up the floor in the second half. We need to always play aggressive.

Fair enough. Tough loss. As mentioned in another thread, this is a team loss. No way this is on Blue. I will say again, if Blue knew how to finish, this team would be really good.

I feel like I've seen this movie before...over and over. This team flat-out can't close.

Gotta put this one on the Buzzmeister.  Looks like the collar on his coach's shirt got a little too tight in the second half.  No sub for The Ox in the final ten minutes?  The guy was so tired he couldn't get his put backs above the rim.  What happened to the "40 minutes of hell" defense?  What happened to the run and gun offense in the second half?  What happened to the bench players?  Did they miss the team bus to the game?  Ahhh, just about the time I start forgetting about the L'ville debacle, something happens to remind me how easily the B man's team seem to lose their composure against good opponents.

But what people fail to realize is the LAW OF AVERAGES!!!!  We were hot in the first half, got a few generous calls by the refs, and oh my freakin GAWD, G'town at home, played like we did in the first half, and we played like them.

I'm just saying, these things happen, it freakin sucks, and our fanbase I keen to only remember the WVU, L'Ville, and now G'town meltdowns, when MU had also had its fair share of luck over the years.

Boone

Blue did fine running the point tonite -- especially given that it's NOT HIS POSITION. He was much better at it than our starting PG, who proves repeatedly vs. good competition that he's not up to the job at hand.

I think our best lineup might be Blue at the Point, DJO, Mayo, Crowder and Gardner.

You're comparing apples and oranges.

Give me the three or four times under Buzz that the team came back from more then 10 down with under 10 minutes to go in second half to win.

Blackhat

If we want to run I think putting Wilson at the 5 is most effective.
