What do you want them to be replaced with?

I'd like to have them replaced with a student section who pays attention to the game and has a basic understanding of the game of basketball*. However, if the student section needs a gimmick, then I'd like to see it at least be something that's clever and new and unique to Marquette. Sure, that's an incredibly vague description but I'm a married, father of twin toddlers who lives in the suburbs. My days of being ridiculous and clever have come and gone. I'm assigning this task to the students, who are in their prime ridiculous and clever years.


(* - For the record, the student section wasn't very good during my time at MU either. I'm not going all "it was better in my day" on you.)

As a student I agree that having an basketball savvy fan base would be ideal, but let's face it, it's not happening.

As for gimmicks, I was only half kidding with the flares and scarves bit. Obviously you can't get flares in the BC, but the "official" MU scarf is becoming a lot more prevalent on campus on its own. It's something that no other student section has and if a majority of the student section had them and used them it would look great on the TV.

Plus it makes for super easy features that ESPN loves. I remember them doing a 4 minute bit on IU when Sampson was there because all the students would wear the stupid t shirt with the fake red tie printed on. Easy on to spot and easy to feature.
