Scroll down a little.   Odd that Jae can get these quotes onto the CBS website, but not the jsonline website.

Guess you would have to be there to get the quotes...... :P

I hope Jae is right.  We could use a vastly improved Vander in the back court this year.

PGsHeroes32

The Vander quote is very interesting. I really hope he breaks out and shows sings of his 5 star status. We could be real deadly in the BE if Jae is right.

"- Roy Hibbert, Jeff Green, Dwyane Wade and other NBA players came back to Georgetown to work out during the lockout. Thompson said the one who benefitted the most was Henry Sims, who played against Hibbert on a regular basis."

D Wade gets around.  He worked out with the Hoyas apparently.

We will definitely need Vander against some quicker guards defensively.  If he can be a threat offensively, then gravy.

I'm not holding my breath. You don't correct a shot or improve a percentage with his inconsistent form.

I'm hoping that Jamil can pick up the slack from Jimmy and Davante increases his numbers. I even think that Todd might have a higher scoring average and better shooting percentage than Vander.

Still, Vander's gotta be that lock down guy this year.

He does have an unorthodox shot, that's for sure.  But I imagine part of it last year was nerves.  He was definitely forcing a lot on offense, but he can only keep improving.  I don't see any prowess on offense this year, but decent improvement would not surprise me.  If he can become more consistent, weird form or not, he can succeed.  Plenty of successful players in the NBA have rather unorthodox shooting forms.

His shot isn't as ugly as Shawn Marion's, and he can sink them from deep even with that wrist flick of a shot he's got.

PGsHeroes32

Vanders shot doesnt need to be awesome. A big key for him will be getting to the rim with his athleticism and FINISHING. That was his huge problem last year. Now as a sophmore hopefully he is more calm, experienced and just overall better at getting to the hoop. Thats what we need from him.

Vander may become similar to Dean Meminger, who did not have a great outside shot, but was cat-like quick and could drive around anyone to score at the basket.

Dean could handle the rock better than anyone I've ever seen on the collegiate level.

Exactly. Vander may be a better athlete than Dean but he'll never come close to him as a ballhandler.

Vander is not as good a ball handler as as Dean, but I think he is a better ballhandler than Cadougan. However, Cadougan is a better passer and makes the players around him better. All Vander has to do to improve offensively is to take less shots. He will never be a good shooter and needs to learn not to force it.

We'd all be a lot less concerned with the physical appearance of Vander's shot if it would go in a lot more.
