Nova and Georgetown are both in a better position than Marquette is today because they have football, albeit not high level.  They have options.  Marquette has none.  We wait for the destruction to end and pick up the ball hope a court somewhere will have us.

Simple question is whether you would prefer to be in MU's shoes today or NOVA \ G'Town?  The answer seems clear to me, but maybe it isn't.

You are a fool if you believe what you are saying.  Those programs will never be FBS (or whatever the f they call them nowadays), and are just a money pit.

Where do you football partisans suppose this imagined team will play, the Arena? There's not a stadium in the city ready for anything like the audience you dream of and that even the dispassionate would hope for.

Unless you fantasize that your young counterparts will all walk on for love, there's the matter of a minimum of 55 scholarships at $31,400 (and climbing). Where will that $1,727,000 per year or a $35 million endowment to cover it come from?

Your other thirty players will probably want some support beyond practice and game shoes, and your coaches aren't going to take discounted salaries for it being a new program.

Plus you are totally forgetting to include title IX

Of course, but we screwed the pooch like we always do.  No football, terrible nickname, no medical school anymore, etc.   This shouldn't surprise anyone here.

You forgot to add closing the Lanche, tearing down Brooks Hall, moving to the Bradley Center, building the Al and basically every other sort of "change" the school has made. Everything was better the way it was!

You are a crusty 'ol bastard, aren't ya?

Yeah!  25 years have past and we're back to joining a conference with Butler and Dayton.

I agree with the earlier post that 2003 was the time to explore football  Yes, I get that costs are prohibitive, Title IX is a difficult hurdle, and no stadium is an issue.  Make all the claims of insurmountable problems you want, but I refuse to believe that Marquette should quietly accept being a second-rate institution.  Marquette needs football.

I'll now let the rest of you of continue to argue for perpetual suckitude (don't feel like accepting your reality).
