Why doesn't MU start a hockey team?  Wilson Park would be a *great* place to play!!!!

We have a hockey team that went 8-4 last season, coming in third in their division behind Purdue and Iowa, ahead of Illinois State, Northwestern, Wheaton College, and Augustana. See: www.muhockey.com/Home.html

As to why MU has no football. It's a very expensive sport. I was involved with the MU Club football team in the early 70's. One year the ASMU gave the team $25,000. I said "thank you" & was grateful. The same year Notre Dame spent almost $10,000 just on athletic tape!
