Morning media assessments

Pitino on SC:   MU is meticulous in their prep, break down the game extremely well, Big East toughened, will be very physical, UNC wins.
Gottlieb on Mike and Mike:   MU may press, not to speed it up, but to slow UNC down and make them play halfcourt.    Played Buzz's clip again where he points out our tempo is virtually the same as UNC's.   Buzz said he have to early and late in the shot clock.    Gottlieb said that we are not a great offensive team, so it is important for Crowder and DJO to make late jumpers.    When they don't,our offense bogs down.    UNC wins.

Not necessarily invalid points but we weren't favored against Syracuse...so I'll take that for what it's worth...more ammo for that chip.

hmmm...21st in the nation via Pomeroy vs. UNC's 45th offensive showing. Tops in the BE in scoring. Yes, insightful that when MU doesn't make jumpers (or any team), their offense bogs down. The "CheckWriter" needs to check the facts.

This game will be decided on defense and pace. MU plays better defense in higher paced games which UNC loves to play. MU's defense is focused on creating turnovers on pinch points and UNC turns over the rock a lot.  Can MU control UNC's frontline?  Who will get the calls inside?  Ideally, in a 72-73 possession game, MU wins.  If it is 77 or more, UNC.  This will be closer than most think when I look at the stats.  I say UNC by 1 via stats...which means MU can win this with our advantages--which is my call.

Against, tOSU...forget it.  Our only hope there is the quick turnaround.

I hear this alot, and generally, I agree with you. But, college hoops is weird. Northwestern almost beat OSU just a couple weeks ago, and they have no where near the talent MU does. I realize that OSU is an awful match up, but if they aren't dropping their shots, ya' never know.
I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

So much of what's been said of late has made me laugh. I've heard about how good UNC is offensively but that they have a suspect defense. I've heard about how Marquette is a defense-oriented team but doesn't have the offense to keep up with Carolina. Does anyone realize that the opposite of these are actually the truth? It's kind of silly.
