OK, after I have banged my head against the wall about our performance this year, I have decided to hold my powder/water until after the Syracuse game. It is a game that we should win. We are at home, Syracuse has lost 3 straight, I believe, and is definitely beatable.

If we win, I will be happy to congratulate Buzz and the Warriors. If we lose, likely we will need to bring in the fire engines. It is then that we can open the floodgates on the season and our direction--if we lose. Topics for consideration if we lose:
Switchables as being the prevailing wisdom
Bigs
Recruiting
Rotations
Coaching Decisions

I sure as hell hope we win one of these games. It gets old, frustrating, negative vibes, and drives one to think up a better hobby than following the Warriors.

I thought you were dead. Willie lives rent free in Reekers mind. Rick Pitino: "You can either complain or adapt."

Better call in Tower912 and Brew City77.

It is not a game we should win, but a game we can win. Cuse losing 3 straight will make them a desperate and dangerous team. The zone is deadly for us and we wil see it all game.

Based strictly on username, my guess is I'd be better equipped if you're looking for a fire engine. tower, on the other hand, will be handling things on the fire truck.

Syracuse is beatable, but frankly, I'm not sure there are many teams in the country we couldn't beat on our night. Is there any game we played in this season that we couldn't have won?

  • Duke: They buried us with that early run, if we weren't shellshocked and fighting back all night, we would have had a chance.
  • Gonzaga: They were woefully bad. We were worse. If we played below average, we would have kicked their asses.
  • Wisconsin: They beat us pretty thoroughly, but we were in it. Maybe if everyone hadn't looked so scared to shoot, we'd have won.
  • Vanderbilt: One stop and we win.
  • Pittsburgh: They were ridiculous from 3. If they weren't white-hot, we would have had a chance.
  • Louisville: No need to rehash that collapse again.
  • Notre Dame: Echo, echo, echo...
  • Connecticut: We definitely had a chance.
So I agree, we can beat Syracuse. By the same token, I don't think it's time to panic if we lose. This team has our number, and has for years. I was on the frontlines of saying we needed 12-6 to be assured a Big Dance ticket, but watching the other so-called power conferences, it wouldn't surprise me if 9-9 was enough. Even if we lose the next 2, all we have to do is beat the unranked opponents at home and win road games against South Florida and Seton Hall, neither of whom have looked particularly good (until last night) to reach 10 Big East wins again. With a likely marshmallow-soft bubble, that should get us in, even despite all our deficiencies.
