PACKERS: First half versus Eagles ends ridiculously
« on: January 09, 2011, 05:07:47 PM »
James Jones has “concentration” problems and drops a likely touchdown pass and then, with a timeout remaining, the Packers let the clock run out and do not try for another score of any type?

I am not an NFL coach, but exactly what is going on? Waste a timeout? Do not even attempt a field goal? Huhhhhh?

Mike McCarthy doesn't make sense. I've seen him try a 40 yard bomb to the endzone on 4th and 1 with the game on the line.

I agree, not sure what was going through MM head to let the clock run out.  But it looked like A Rodgers had the same thought when he motioned to forget it.

I thought I heard Nomorebuycks cheering when Jones dropped that one.  But I could be wrong.

Yeah, potentially HUGE mistake by Jones there. Should be an 18 point game.

I bet Marshawn Lynch would have caught that ball. Damn you, Ted Thompson!

The end of Green Bay's 1st half was hard to grasp.  Jones drops a perfect ball that would have been a touchdown or at least a FG.  Then the delay of game.  Then advancing the ball to the 42 yard line with 23 seconds left and a timeout...but choosing to not use the timeout??  Is it possible McCarthy was so enraged by Jones dropping the ball, the subsequent delay of game - that he forgot he had a time out left??  Bizarre sequence.  Hopefully it doesn't come back to bite Green Bay in the butt, as did some things in the 4th  26 game.

Philly is lucky to even be in this game at this point...and you keep a team around long enough..the home team..who knows.

We are wasting timeouts and avoiding scoring opportunities while the Eagle are forcing fumbles and narrowing the Packers’ lead to 14-10.

I hate when I worry about a coach’s judgment.

Do you think that news reached California first?

Is it now time for you to work in a plug for DirecTV?

Just busting your chops, buddy.

Go Pack! GO MARQUETTE!

LOL.  No, I was just reading the complaining here and wanted to make sure you guys knew GB won.

Honestly, I don't get what they were doing at the end of the first half, either.  To this day I don't understand what Bielema was doing at the end of the first half in the Rose Bowl, either...maybe it's a Wisconsin football thing.

Meh, they got the ball back at half time. I would have liked to see them take a shot, but even then I wasn't too worried about it.

On to Atlanta!

I watch and just shake my head.  The lack of any sense of urgency at the end of the first half, several times this year, drives my blood pressure to unsafe levels.

Thank you Green Bay for bringing the Seahawks to Chicago.

Things are setting up for Pack/Bears title game, I like the Pack in Atlanta Saturday night. I expect the Bears to win a tight game Sunday afternoon.

I expect that the Seahawk's magic has wore off and for the Bears to demolish them on Sunday, with Cutler getting his first playoff win (just like A-Rod did today)  I would love to see a GB/Chi NFC championship in snowy Soldier Field, with the Packers coming out on top in the rubber match!

In addition to Mccarthy's predictable play calling on the goal line (Kuhn and Jackson runs).  Whatever, we came out with the W.

If only the same could be applied to MU games by many fans...Hmm.

I don't disagree with you Ners, at least as it relates to certain games.

Now, if you're specifically mentioning the UW-Hyphen-milwaukee game, sorry, no dice.  A crap team that we should have beaten the crap out of.  You'll note in EVERY game that we have played a solid opponent, my approach (I can't speak for others) has been benign.  Certainly there are others that get unhinged regardless of the outcome (good or bad...some like to rip no matter what and others like to stroke no matter what).
