Love 'em or hate 'em, that is a well coached team.

Well coached, traditional, don't make mistakes, and with personnel that is good but not great.....stable and consistent.  Boring as crap, but certainly stable and consistent.

Stable and consistent, but also limited. Wisco is never going to win a National Championship with that style. There are too many other teams who are well-coached and traditional with high IQs but have far more athleticism than the Badgers. Considering how bad UW basketball had been for a long, long time (not to mention that UW is a football school), it's a perfect place for Bo because the fans aren't likely to get impatient for more than strong regular seasons any time soon.

I could stand to watch a few boring games in which my team commits two turnovers over the frustration of "what did he do that for?!" that seems to happen way too much with our guys this year.

I don't disagree with you, they probably won't win the national title but they will be in the tournament with a chance to win the national title every year.  You have to get there in order to win it.

The next question becomes, sans 2003, have we had talent on any of our teams that could win the national championship in the last 20 years?

I think we had the TALENT in 1994 to win it.  We would have to been very lucky but the talent was there that year.  Other than '94 and '03, that was about it though.

If your only goal is to win a national championship as a MU fan, you are going to be disappointed more often than not.

I agree on 94'....  For sure at least enough to make the final 4.

Obviously agree on 03 as well.

Final Fours and National titles are the only things that are truly *special in college b-ball and will be remembered 25 years from now.  Every thing else is nice but soon forgotten.

I can't really even remember if we won the C-USA when it was good although I'm pretty sure we did in 2003.

I think, for fans, to see progress is exciting though for UW fans I'd enjoy Bo. he's truly a very good/great coach it's just has to be disappointing to not make progress with him at the helm, you pretty much know what your limits are.

They do overachieve relative to the talent though, I'd take Bo over most every coach with Duke type talent.

Or any school for that matter. Hell, Duke and Carolina combined have only accounted for 9. Kansas only has 3, each a generation apart.

A good year for MU every year, especially given our size and location, is 20 wins, 10 in the league, and a first round NCAA tournament berth. Anything after that is just peaches.

Not to get too philosophical here, but I guess it depends what you want out of sports.  I like the journey and try not to get too disappointed by the losses.  Would I be happy with Wisconsin's success over the past decade?  Most definately.  Would I be happy knowing that they really couldn't have done much more?  I don't know.

'02 and '08 probably had as much chance of going anywhere as the large majority of those UW teams.

Agreed on Championships being too much to ask for.  Though the journey is fun for me too this is what I ask for from a program like Marquette every ten years:

7 NCAA's (NIT in other three years)
4 Years where we win at least one game in tourney
2 Years where we reach the Sweet Sixteen (including 4 years were we win at least one game)
1 Year Elite Eight or better (including the 2 Sweet Sixteen years)
1 Year a league regular season title or tournament title

I watched the game on the tube last night also. Have to say there never was a doubt in my mind, any time during  the game, that Bucky wins that one.
You can hate all you want but Bo, year in and year out, produces a very, very consistent product and has done so at every level he's coached at. The dude is legendary.
