It seems like ever year when this game approaches that everyone I know who is a Marquette fan tends to over inflate UW Madisons Talent.  It is the shame schtick every year.
"We cant possibly Guard Wilkinson"

"Who is going to match up with Tucker"

"Their is no one on this team that can stop Trevon Hughes"

"How in God's name do we stop Leur"  or this year

"No body can match up with Jordan Taylor?"

Granted the Leur and Tucker questions were legit but Jordan Taylor?  When did Jordan Taylor become Devin Harris?     Do MU fans tend to overvalue Madison so that in the event we lose that it does not hurt so much?  Or do we overvalue Madison in hopes of if we win that it looks more impressive.  I tend to think it is the former.

Whenever Marquette plays conference games against Opponents much better than UW.  I usually see a 75-25 split of people thinking we are going to win against people who think we are not.   Yet look at the board this year.  We have maybe only two people that Predict a positive outcome this year.

If you ask me I see a win this saturday thanks to the home court advantage.

Just want to know your opinion

I think we win in a non-traditional manner

The Leuer and Tucker matchups I can see why people said that, but not for Taylor or Hughes. Where are people saying that?

Fair point. However you are evaluating each of these guys, isolated from the UW team and their coach. Jordan Taylor is NOT Devin Harris. However, you can bet these guys will be more prepared than probably any other game, and Bo will have them ready and will get everything possible out of each one of them. So while UW's talent isn't anything amazing, we can expect a very very tough battle from them.

KenoshaWarrior

I expect a tough game, but we as Marquette fans tend to think that the only team that has matchup problems in these games is us.   UW has just as much if not more matchup problems than we do

I wish we had Fulce to cover Nankivil and Leuer this weekend, and more so Leuer.  He will be a very tough matchup and hopefully we learned from what happened in Kansas City.  Even then, they don't have NBA players on their perimeter like Duke did openning up opportunities for their players inside.

But there is no way that they can keep the players MU has in front of them all game.  They are not trotting out as much talent as they have in the past.  It is just a question of MU executing.  They are going to have to play some really good team defense, and they might.

I am not sure people are every worried about Madison like the original post says.  Maybe some people are.  There are tough matchups but nothing any team in the country cannot handle.

If you are worried about stopping Jordan Taylor, then your team has big time issues defensively.

I see a Marquette win on Saturday.  The home court advantage is big.  Marquette's depth and high talent level this year should factor into playing a fast tempo full court game instead of UW's slow, half court game.  Marquette has the big men to get Leuer into foul trouble and hence, on the bench.  Vander Blue should focus on shutting down Taylor.  All in all, Marquette should win with its superior athletic talent.  Go Warriors!

Agree.

My one concern would be that when a Marquette guard gets by the UW guard, can MU either A. beat UW's defensive rotation and make it to the rim or B. see the rotation and make the correct pass while still under control.

I would say avoiding charges and defensive rebounds will be overarching keys to the game. If they get beaten in either area, it's going to be very tough to overcome.

Overall talent does not always equate to a win.  Lets not forget the relative inexperience MU has, coupled with so many players still getting used to each other.  It is extremely difficult to get UW into a up tempo game.  MU MUST defensive rebound in order to win this game.  IF they can do that, everything else will fall into place.
