Just beat UCLA 79-75.  UCLA never lead in the game.  Destroyed Wake earlier and played Tennessee tough.   They are a very well coached team (by the youngest coach in D1, Shaka Smart) with disciplined players who know their roles.  I think they are an NCAA tourney team for sure.

Agreed, and I'd maybe even go a step further. Could win a tournament game or two with the right matchups.

Just spells doom and gloom for Howland.

His club has never led for the past 80 or so minutes.

He always had tough defensive teams, but me thinks the early defections to the NBA has set this team backwards.

VCU is real solid. Been a fan since the maynor days and i picked there upset over duke(and UCLA which didnt work 2 years later). But I didnt really know what to expect this year with Sanders gone. There good though, pleasantly suprised.

I'm a little surprised.  VCU's 3 guard lineup (2 guys over 6'8") had little trouble against UCLA's much bigger lineup  (5 guys played double digit minutes at 6'8" or larger).

VCU shot very well behind the arc...46%...and more than doubled UCLA's FT attempts.  That's where they won the game.

UCLA, the bigger team, crushed them on the boards but it didn't matter.  VCU caused a ton of TO's by UCLA which led to a lot of easy baskets.
