A thorough preview of both teams, the upcoming game and the history of the series.  I didn't realize that USD has 3 Wisconsin kids on their team!

Plus it looks like their website will be streaming the game in case the MU website feed falls through for some reason.

Edit:  It looks like they were pleasantly surprised by their ability to force Nebraska into turning the ball over in their 8-point loss to a not-terrible Nebraska team (ranked 68th by Pomeroy).  USD had 11 steals contributing to 14 total turnovers by Nebraska  That was compared to only 5 steals by Nebraska, contributing to the 13 turnovers USD had by the end of the game.

Looks like they had 3 guys graduate last year, so they will probably be in the same boat as we are as a younger team.

First, thanks for finding this.  Second, is there a really a "South Dakota School of Mines" (USD's previous opponent)? You learn something new every day....

Dr. Fournelle of the MU Mechanical Engineering Department is an alum of Missouri School of Mines (now Missouri University of Science & Technology, recently changed from University of Missouri - Rolla).  I think there's also a Colorado School of Mines.

If I remember correctly from when I was doing my college search, they are basically on par with MSOE.  "School of Mines" is an old convention that some Universities have kept.  When those schools were named, engineering colleges were rare and Mining was a major industry for those educated in engineering.  It was a way of distinguishing themselves from liberal arts colleges.

Correct, and good answer.  I hadn't heard of a school of mines until I moved to CO.  However, jeeping/hiking through all the old (and some new) mining camps in the area, it makes more sense.

If you click on the link for the USD Cheer/Dance Squad you'll see that the Dance Squad does not wear shoes. I thought that odd.

that's some not too shabby biscuit for good ole USD.   8-)

Yowza.  Assuming the dance/cheer squad comes to the game you forget about the radio broadcast.  TV is the way to go!

i guess mining is the new shovel ready job to look in to...now to get stuck in one with a few of the local talent, they can take a little time with the rescue

A lot of states have schools based on mining engineering.  UW-Platteville has its roots in that tradition.
