You are right.

John Wall - one and done

Brandon Knight - next year, one and done

Teague - year after, one and done.  AND they got Mike Gilchrist, the #1 player in 2011.  Insane.

I don't get it, why Kentucky?  If you are ranked that high and would get in the NBA after playing one year of college ball anywhere, why go to Kentucky?

PuertoRicanNightmare

Why Kentucky? People in Milwaukee like to cite going to Marquette as "playing in an NBA city" or an NBA arena. When you play for Kentucky, you're basically playing for an NBA franchise, as far as accomodations, celebrity, perks, etc. I honestly don't think Calipari is necessarily breaking any rules. He's got the NCAA's gold standard to sell and nobody else can compete...and I know that street agents are doing his bidding. Kansas, maybe. North Carolina? Perhaps. But Kentucky has no peer.

Incidentally, Indiana is absolutely DREAMING if they believe they're going to get back to that level. The minute they hired a former Izzo assistant they declared to the rest of the Big Ten that they're content to play second fiddle to the Spartans. If I were a highly touted recruit, I'd rather play for Izzo, Painter, Ryan, Matta and hell, even Bruce Weber than Crean.

And that's just the Big Ten. Kentucky is in their backyard. Butler. Memphis. Now Oliver Purnell. Buzz Williams. Indiana is in the toilet and, unfortunately, they've got a complete turd at the helm, waving his arms and denying he smells like sh*t.

$$$>WWW>Lebron>Cal......Coincidence....hardly

The NCAA just HAS to start sniffing around the UK/Cal semi pro revolving door that is mocking every other team that does it the right way.

ecompt

as long as the kids pass the SATs, I don't think the NCAA can do much. The freshmen will take their six credits of gym and remedial reading first semester, then not even enroll for classes in January, knowing that they are going pro. The NCAA created the system when it ruled kids had to go to college for a year.

the second half of this rant hurt my brain.... congrats

Like many of you, I thought there was something fishy about how UK can sign so many ridiculous players. Then, for the first time in my life, I went to the Vandy @ UK game this past year. I left BLOWN AWAY. It was borderline surreal. If you havent been, I suggest you go. Its like Lambeau of college bball. I cant really explain the crowd - lots of old people that get rowdy! Oddly enough, there arent a lot of students at their home games; they simply cant afford it. I paid $250 for a game against freaking VANDY! It's nuts! Kentucky people are nuts! Its all about college bball and I loved it. I thought I would hate it but I left in shock. You must go to see for yourself.

It depends how these kids are "passing" their tests

Really?!?! Are you THAT clueless?

The NBA created the "one-and-done" rule, the NCAA had nothing to do with it.

sorry, I typed it wrong, 1104. Thanks as ever for your constructive criticism.

Exactly.  I'm not saying the recruits are dummys, but with Calparai's "unproven" connections to having someone take the SAT for Derrek Rose you have to be suspicious about everything.

Sampson was a scumbag at OU and continued to be at IU.

Calapari was a scumbag at UMass and Memphis.  Does anyone believe he stopped being a scumbag at UK?

Don't you mean "As long as someone pretending to be the kid passes the SATs"

Ha, Ha, so far its a big wiff-o for Cal on recruit #s 2 and 3!
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Academically easy first semester.

GOMU1104,

If you had been around as long as ecompt, you'd know that he knows his stuff, and you'd have realized that he made a typo.  You've shown that you've got a lot to contribute, you don't need to demean others to command respect.

It was my fault, Little Murs; I should have reread what I was typing before I sent it, especially with 1104 waiting to pounce. Thanks for the support.
