Does that mean Calipari must vacate that year on his overall record?

Not really a big deal, but just wondering.

T-Bone

He also had to vacate the UMass Final Four appearance in 1996.

Don't forget Kentucky 2010...Oh sorry, I'm about 18 months early on that.

I find it stupid when they take away wins. It's like getting fired from a company, but then the company says you were never an employee there and takes away the employee of the month plaque. Let the name still be on there with an asterisk. That way that that school is mentioned as a cheater every time they bring it up.

This reminds me of the scene in the movie The Ten Commandments when the Sethi said:

Let the name of Moses be stricken from every book and tablet. Stricken from every pylon and obelisk of Egypt. Let the name of Moses be unheard and unspoken, erased from the memory of man, for all time.

2010 version

Let the name of Calipari be stricken from every book and tablet. Stricken from every pylon and obelisk of the NCAA. Let the name of Calipari be unheard and unspoken, erased from the memory of man, for all time.

Or at least until April 5th.

Umass' 1996 final four appearance was vacated because his star Marcus Camby accepted $28,000 from two sports agents.

Memphis had its entire 2008 season vacated because of recruiting violation surrounding his star Derrick Rose's SAT score (an impostor took it for him.)

So, what did Calipari do to get John Wall and/or Demarus Cousins to commit to Kentucky?  How long before we find out?

If Kentucky wins the NCAA and they are vacated, does that mean the trophy passes to the losing team?

Probably the same thing that happened to Pete Carrol and USC...Cal will get (another) payday in the NBA.

Question for you guys....if Memphis doesn't blow that game (i.e., fouls at the end of the game and doesn't allow the game tying 3 pointer) and Memphis wins, would the championship be vacated?  Is this discussion happening?

TallTitan34

At least Memphis can keep their "20xx National Champions" banner.

Mayor McCheese

Why don't they ever punish the coach

This punishment does nothing.  Honestly, I remember Memphis in the final four 2 years ago, I remember UMASS in the final four.  I can perceive anything not to be ala George Berkeley, but that doesn't mean that we don't remember it.

Do they have any Great Alaska Shootout banners hanging in the Pyramid?

They might, but since they use the Pyramid for rodeos now I don't think the 4H folks even pay attention.

Although this was alleged (that someone else took Rose's test) it actually never was substantiated by the NCAA or the SAT people.
What happened was the SAT company canceled Rose's test after he left Memphis because he didn't respond to their requests that he, for all intents, defend himself. Once the test was canceled - regardless of reason - the NCAA considers him an ineligible player, thus vacating Memphis' wins.
Is it possible/likely someone else took the test for Rose? Sure. But nobody proved it.

On 670 the Score, Dan Bernstein believes that once you make the final four your program should immediately be investigated no matter what.

I don't think it's that bad of an idea.
