I remember Buzz saying April 14th the day before tax day.

GOO

Looks like April 14th:

I'll put my money on Mo Walker, didn't he have ties with Cadougan somehow??

Leslie and Cothron have a ridiculous amoount of baggage. I doubt either of them are coming to MU.

If people in the basketball program know we will be getting a commitment from someone in April that means that said player has already made his decision and told the program. Why wouldn't he give a verbal now if that is the case?

Jeremy Tyler skipped his senior season of HS to play in Israel and just quit the team this past week

That's right...scratch that, he's already been paid...wonder why ESPN even lists him still...

What kind of baggage are Leslie and Cothron carrying?

Walker is the one that I wanted this time last year, so I'd be thrilled with his signing...the only tie to Cadougan is that they're both Candadien...beyond that, I don't think there's any connection...

I had the same thought.  Perhaps, the recruit wanted to at least take the visits that he had promised the schools/coaches before the signing day to either reaffirm his thoughts on commitment or just as a back up in case the offer gets pulled at the last minute.

I thought they played on the same AAU team at some point, but I'm probably wng there. FWIW, I found multiple articles from around February 22 saying that Walker planned on trimming his list to 5 over the next week. I never found a followup article on it, but within the past week someone posted on Georgetown's forum a quote saying that Walker trimmed his list to Pitt, Georgetown, St. John's, and Seton Hall. There was no link but he was planning to trim his list, his parents have said they wanted him to stay in the BE and in the east, and I'm not sure anybody would just make that list up. So you may want to keep that money in your pocket for now.

Zagoria reports:

Craig Walker [Maurice's father] said the current list for his son includes Seton Hall, Georgetown, Pittsburgh, Marquette and St. John's. He added that South Florida, Oregon State and Memphis have also expressed interest.
"My thoughts are that Maurice  will probably stay in the East somewhere," Craig said. "As parents, we'd rather he play in the East side of the country in the Big East. We know we can hop on a plane and be there in an hour."
With regards to actual schools, Walker comments:

"We've always been interseted [sic] in Pitt. They're playing really good basketball right now."
"Georgetown, we've been interested as well. They've show some interest. The coaches from Georgetown have gone up a couple times," he added.
In a scouting report, Rivals states:

At 6-foot-10 and 270-pounds, Walker casts an imposing shadow on the basketball floor. A big man with good hands and solid footwork, Walker has focused on getting in better shape and being more consistent in his time at Brewster.

He is currently ranked #118 in the Class of 2010 and is listed as #12 for centers.

He would be a fine addition to a team desperate for some big bruisers in the paint.

Was never on the MU list but Enes Kanter just committed to UK today. Another one and done player with some shady history for Coach Cal. he'll be a good one if he gets through the NCAA eligibility committee.

I know we all want a big but I hope the April surprise is Tokoto.

VegasWarrior77

I would take that in a heartbeat!

I hope there IS an April surprise, lol

I'd wager that it's a JuCo that none of us have heard mentioned before.  Buzz seems to take the recruiting path less traveled.

That wold be TRULY AWESOME as the rumor was for the recuit to be 6'10" and 250 lbs.  To get Tokoto and have Tokoto grow to that size is probably being too greedy though.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

I have no idea who the player will be, but based on what's been posted here, and after reading Rosiak's season ending-blog entry below, it leads me to believe there is a VERY REAL chance we sign another player:

"MU will likely hold a news conference once again sometime around the middle of next month to announce its late signees to its 2010-'11 recruiting class. At this point it includes guard D.J. Newbill and forward Jae Crowder, but might well include at least one additional player as well."

Interesting to note when asked abot Yous, Buzz made the following comment:  "But he needs to get back on the boat, and as best as we can assimilate that, we need to do it over the next month, six weeks."

I thought this was at the least an ironic statement, or possibly more revealing as to Yous's future with the program - considering 4-6 weeks - is fairly close to April 14th (late signing Day).  Not sure why it is so critical that he be assimilated back in the next 4-6 weeks, when we are 7 -8 months from the start of the season.  Probably reading way too much into that, but curious to say the least.  That said, I really don't see Buzz ever screwing a kid over, but he may be totally honest with a kid (Roseboro/Yous) and tell them that they likely will never play at MU..and if PT is a dream/goal, it maybe best to look elsewhere.

"I'm not sure Cadougan would fix the problems on this team. I'm not even convinced he would be better for this team than DeWil is."

Buzz is a master of words.  He knows what words mean, and each word he says is a clue. . .I think we will be surprised in April.

VegasWarrior77

"I really like the guys that we signed. I think they can help us. We've got to sign some more. What position – 'We need a big guy, Buzz. We can't advance without a big guy.' I understand. We need really good players is what we need."

Buzz is always working it...!
