Sure, I wish a big-time big man without problems would come to campus, but I'm not down on going with Otule and Mbao.

I believe the most blocked shots we've had this decade was 43 by Dwyane Wade, and I believe all that was missing from wins against Stanford, Missouri and Washington was the threat of a blocked shot so that opponents would have to think twice before driving, and alter their shots.

When McIlvaine blocked 142 shots in 1994, opponents hit only 35% of their field goals TOTAL.  We won't get that again, but Otule blocked a shot every five minutes (5 in 25 minutes), and Mbao blocked 5 in 60 minutes.  So basically, they had just over two full games between them and blocked 10 shots.  I know that's a small sample, but I am really excited that Buzz will have the option of a shot blocker so that opponents don't hit over half of their two pointers against us.

With all the studs we will have scoring, I'll take my chances with 4 unstoppable guys on offense even if our center just sits back on defense and denies the rim.

Once Erik Williams gets his head wrapped around defensive rotations, I have no doubt (from what I've seen of his athleticism) that he could be a shot-blocking threat.

Don't give up on either yet...especially Otule.  Here is an article on Jeff Foote at Cornell.  D3 coaches weren't making him offers, yet I would gladly have him at MU.

College big men need time to develop.

Yep.
People should consider where Amal McCaskill was at this stage of his career before ruling out the possibility that Otule (or Mbao, for that matter) can be productive, effective players over the next three seasons.

And the fact that McCaskill is still playing 116 years after he graduated.

um, slightly off topic...

this was a comment on the recent Rosiak blog "buzz wraps up the season"...

"Contrary what a lot of you may believe, 6'10 F/C Monterale Clark is still coming to Marquette. " - GOMU85

anyone know who the user is that posted it? or have any idea or source of what he/she is talking about?

Really hope that guy is just talking out of his abe.

LOL... yeah that's got Abe or someone similar written all over it.

Assuming it is someone like that... I find it terribly sad that there are posters who fraudulently pretend to be an alumn/supporter of a program and post things to discredit said program.  The combination of dishonesty and pathetic waste of time it is... you can only shake your head.   :(

That guy who posted about Monterale coming either 1) is a Rodent fan messing with MU minds or 2) knows something we don't know.

God I hope it's the former because the latter will just be a nasty lightning rod for the program.

I read Rosiak's blog all the time and frequently read the comments just for kicks.  I don't recall ever seeing anyone named "GOMU85" on the blog... seems like the blog equivalent of a "drive-by" to me.

In any event, I wouldn't put too much stock into a random comment anywhere in the blogosphere, especially one that flies in the face of conventional wisdom.  Heck, I would be willing to bet my kids' college fund that Clark won't ever see the MU campus in-person again.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

My thoughts exactly.

EDIT:  Except I let myself get sucked into commenting
