Louisville's Zone

Forcing us to shoot the three, but DJO putting on a show.

Others need to start hitting them soon, turnovers by UL keeping our lead even though we have had some really stupid ones.

Zar just picked up his second at 7 minute mark with us up by 5. Zar has not scored.
Now Butler's second foul.  Trouble.......

Jimmy and Zar have 3 pts combined but were up 10, wow. The way we are shutting down samuels on d is inspiring right now. Gotta keep it up in the second half.
Lazar picking up where the BIG 3 left off....

Yes, trouble is correct.  For Louisville!  What an incredible effort by the guys without the two big guns in the game.

That zone is terrible. And good thing Samuels holds onto the ball so long and cant find the open man on a double team..

We are doing a great job of our big men hedging screens at the top of the key, rotating to cover, and then recovering man to man.  They burned us with a couple 3's early but nothing since then and we forcing them into multiple turnovers.  Excellent rebounding and keeping them off the offensive glass...

If you were Pitino, what would you do to get the ball to Samuels?
A high pick and roll?

We do need Zar and Jimmy in this half though. We cant count on Samuels being a no show again and DJO being red hot. Samardo also only has 1 foul so that wont really be an issue for hiim down the stretch.

Outstanding defense so far, even moved it out to the three point line late in the half.  Very impressive.

Good question.  We are fronting him on the strong side and running a guard from the weak side forcing him to make decisions with the ball.  I'd tell him he needs to pass quickly out of the double team and then reverse the ball but his move to the basket has to be quicker.  One thing is abundantly clear, we are not going to let Samuels beat us...

My guess is that we will try to get Lazar some open looks for 3 likely as a trailer from the top of the key after he inbounds at the other end.  If he can hit a couple that is going to pull Samuels out from the basket and open up driving lanes...

After two minutes, we extended lead by 2, shooting 1 for 5 and Butler picking up his third foul.  Thank goodness for UL turnovers.

I'm guessing the second half is bound to be very different from the first. Gotta believe Pitino will make adjustments, especially to get Samuels more productive. What will Buzz do to respond? This will be key with both Lazar and Jimmy with two fouls.

And, Buzz will try to get Lazar into it more? And, of course, Jimmy hasn't done much. Then again, neither Sosa nor Smith have done too much for the Cardinals.

Prediction: If DJO can keep it up tonight, he offsets whatever adjustments might be made and the Warriors win.

We passed the 5 minute test for once.  Lead at 19 , with Zar scoreless.  Unreal.  KEEP IT UP
