UConn Last Possession

Reality Check: UConn didn't get a last shot off with I believe 2.4 seconds to do so. If that happened to us people would be up in arms ripping on the coaching. That type of thing gets ignored when some other team does that. Sometimes the D makes a play, the kids don't execute or whatever. Silly to jump on the coaches every time something like that happens.

Actually, I think that play was well designed as best I could tell but MU was waiting for it.  We pressed the ball (hoping to inhibit the long pass to the hoop) and guards in the back court (to waste time and bracket them if the pass went there).  UCONN had a sizeable height advantage so it was a toss to a big who was to quickly get it to Dyson for a runner, hoping he could lose his defender in the rush.  Buycks tipped it and Cubes stole it for the win.

That right, I there was one reply to the cracked sidewalks preview saying if mu had it for a last shot there was a 99 percent chance we wouldn't get a shot off.  Well, butler did, and buycks and cube didn't let uconn get there's off. And don't forget djo can't hit clutch freethrows either.

That's my point. People would be all over our coaches if they designed the exact same play and it didn't work. I guess that's just the nature of fans, but it gets a little tiresome. Wonder if there would have been people ripping on Acker being too short to defend Dyson on that 28 footer if we didn't come out on top.

Yes.

The play was designed well and would've gotten a good look for the Huskies but the Chin (who has been beaten a bit on the board for his defense) made a great deflection to end their chances.

This is different then a poorly executed last possession (see: @ Villanova).

What UConn did is something we haven't done, which is rush the ball to half-court before taking the timeout.  So instead of having the ball at the end line with 2.8 seconds they got it at midcourt with 2.4 seconds.  I think they gave themselves a much better chance of scoring by doing that.
