Found this tidbit on Zags blog.  Scroll down about 2/3rds of a page and look for Maurice Walker.

It seems MU is still involved but I wonder what our chances are.  I thought he favored pitt but he could have signed with them in the early signing period and didn't.  I wonder if that was where Buzz was on Monday.

From what I read it sounds like he would have signed with Pitt in the fall, but his mother wanted him to visit other schools first. She did not have a problem with Pitt, but thought he should see all of his options. Pitt has to be considered the leader and with the way they are playing right now, I would believe that is where he will end up going.

We really need Mo. He is one of a few decent rated big men left on all recruiting sites. Buzz needs to go after him hard.

Buzz is probably telling him he can play guard on defense just like Mbao.

Maybe it's wishful thinking, but that could also work to our advantage, if you think about it...

If Mo sees the success they're having with young players [none of them necessarily NBA-ready] at Pitt, he may start to wonder what his role would be as a freshman...he could end up buried behind someone on the depth chart.

If I were Buzz, I'd be on the phone with Mo every chance I had pointing out that, for as well as we've played, the thing that has been missing is a big, physical presence inside on the offensive and defensive ends of the court.  That if he were here, we'd be 4-0 in the B-East right now and garnering serious national attention.

The opportunity for him to contribute immediately is his for the taking and with the perimeter players we have coming in, Mo could be the difference between an NCAA birth and a trip to the Final Four for Marquette...

At least, that's how I'd try to sell it!  :)

Is it that hard to click the link and read 2 sentences?

Do tell which two sentences would you like me to read?  "He will take visits in the spring after the Final Four" mentions nothing about when he intends to verbal.

If he is not taking visits until after the Final Four, then it is safe to bet that he will likely not commit until after said visits. At this point I believe he has only visited Pitt, and that was back in August/September.

Jimmy Butler and DJO committed without visiting, that doesn't happen very often.

I understand that and deduced the same.  Often when a parent puts things on hold as far as commitment there is a specific date planned as well.  Sometimes this date is announced and sometimes not.  Is there one in his case?  That's all I was asking.

I would agree that any big man looking at Marquette has to be salivating at the chance to not just come in and contribute but to be a big part of a team that has a chance to be very good over the course of a 4-year commitment.

I think our exposure over the course of the rest of the season will just bear that out.  Can we get some bigs like Jim Chones, Mo Lucas, Bo Ellis, Larry McNeil and/or Robert Jackson to blow in this guys ear that MU is not just a "guard school" which seems to be the perception that young kids have and that challenges Buzz?

Even if Otule is better than expected, and given the limited sample size I'm not expecting much, there is nothing but opportunity awaiting a big man at Marquette.

Unfortunately, we have been saying the exact same thing for the last 5 years about every big man that we have been recruiting.

Yep.   Now we know how the UW football team feels regarding quarterbacks.

idk i think it is.... centers dont come to marquette because its guard U. Big Men will play second fiddle to the top notch guards. Qb's dont go to madison because its running back U. Qb's dont want to hand the ball of 40 times a game.

just my thought.

If they want to play in the NFL, UW is a better place than most in recent years...  Jim Sorgi, and Brooks Bollinger both played in the NFL in the last 5 years.  That is 2 NFL QBs in the last 7 years.

Say what you want about UW being a running first school, sure, but to say that is all the QB does is just wrong.

Scott Tolzien will get drafted after his senior season too.
