I appreciate their enthusiasm for MU basketball...and TallTitan is one of the best posters around, but Golden Eagles do not "rock." They should be embarrassed to wear that thing.

Are you kidding?  The Golden Eagle school mascot costume is awesome!

So its been 15 years.  Can we move on from Warriors?

N-E-V-E-R.

I was a member of the last class of warriors (1993-94).
With DiUlio's name change, it left me bereft of the identity I was proud to don and dismayed at the thought of evolving into a Golden Chicken.

EDIT:

I still think there's one more alteration that needs to be made for the eagle:

to look MEAN like him ^^^!

Sanders was a pompus, egotistical assclown at graduation.  He knew his offer would never be accepted, so he hijacked the graduation ceremony and made it about himself.  Well done jag.  And Hilltopper, I appreciate all you that you for the 'Scoop, but IMHO, I think you cheapen the word "courage" by referring to what Sanders did.

Too bad you and others can't understand and appreciate the significance, pride, and history of Marquette Warriors. Maybe we should change the red color in the American flag to pink since red signifies blood and violence. Or maybe the PC crowd should just shut up or be told to do so.

Go look under the tree, I can only hope you get a life for Christmas.

Titan, enjoyed this.  When I was an intern at MU I had to be the cheer leader \ mascot liaison for the the department.  Had a lot of fun with the students who gave up their time to be the mascot, despite taking a few shots to the groin and other goofiness through a season.  All good guys and gals.  They took the costumes home with them (we had 2 of them) and I don't even want to guess what was done with them there....I'm sure there are some hilarious pictures of the mascot at parties or compromising positions of some kind.

One soccer event we had no one that could show up and as the intern, I dubbed the chicken suit for about 2 hours.  Had a great time, but never again.

I think it might be time to move on.  As a younger alum I never really gave a crap about the Warriors nickname change and all of my memories of Marquette basketball have been as the Golden Eagles.

And to be honest as a member of the class of 2004, I thought it was a little ridiculous that my graduation ceremony got hijacked by an alum who never got over the whole Warriors name change thing.  And then all that really came of it was that we had to go through the whole Gold Debacle.  Its time to move on.

Not moving on.  My coffin will be decked out in Marquette Warriors stuff and I told my wife to make sure I have a Stanford Indians t-shirt on along with North Dakota Fighting Sioux boxers.....then she can cook me and spread my ashes over Father DiUlio.

Yawn.

Give me a break. It's just a nickname. Get over it. It's over. Done. Kaput. You're like one of those Japanese soldiers hiding in the mountains refusing to believe WWII was over. The rest of the world has moved on, you should too.

Wrong. The last class of Warriors was the Class of 1997 which were Warriors their Freshman year.

Right...that was the last class.

Wrong...in calling me wrong. 1993-94 WAS my Freshman year, and I did graduate in 1997. Hence, the "last class of warriors."

Because it's totally normal to refer as your the class of XXXX for your freshman year.

-Reinko, class of 1998 (but graduated in 2002)

Above is what you wrote. A plain language reading of that would lead the reader to think that you said that the last class was the senior class of 93-94.
